Following on from my other thread I've amended my name choices.
I'd appreciate help/advice on which is nicest.
Middle name would be Jean (named for my nana I can't compromise on this).
I'm half Korean so have picked some Korean names too this time as well. I could add the Korean name as another middle name after my nanas though:
Bae
Chin-Sun
Minji
Moon
So-Ok
Sailor
Ember
Cherry
Magnolia
Bronte
Sage
Venus
Yes I've ditched Apricot & taken on board some of the advice you ladies have given me I appreciate it x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SickAndTiredAgain · 11/03/2022 16:12

Sage Jean is quite hard to say with the sound at the end of Sage and start of Jean. But then, people don’t often say full names out loud so that maybe doesn’t matter.

RobertsRadio · 11/03/2022 16:12

I like Cherry and think Cherry Jean sounds good together. I also like Bronte and Amber - instead of Ember.

Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 16:11

Minji is pronounced more like Meen-Jee so its not as its read so I think it would be fine?
Does anyone like Moon?

You can't call a kid Sailor...

From Wilki:
"Hello, sailor" is a camp gay catchphrase alluding to the sexual frustration of seamen."

SickAndTiredAgain · 11/03/2022 16:10

@southlondoner02

To me Magnolia is associated with the boring paint colour that is used in blocks of flats etc. It's a shame because it's a lovely flower but has connotations of blandness which doesn't seem to be what you're going for with your list

Suki mentioned up thread is lovely

Yes I was going to say that about magnolia. Lovely flower, but makes me think of boring paint colours
MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/03/2022 16:09

You cannot possibly call a baby minji or sook for obvious reasons also Bae which is slang for your boyfriend/girlfriend.

Brontë is beautiful

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 16:09

Hahaha. I actually want Story back it's quite nice.

Still overall I'd pick Sage even though Sage Jean doesn't have the best sound.

Maybe Sage ... Jean, as in an additional middle name between them.

RealRaymondReddington · 11/03/2022 16:09

Moon is like when teenage boys flash their bums to other cars when they're at the back of the bus isn't it? Minji is just not okay. Bronte, Magnolia, Cherry and Sage are lovely options.

statetrooperstacey · 11/03/2022 16:08

Minji sounds like minge, so absolutely not , don’t even entertain it !
I like sage but you can’t call her sage Jean , as it sounds like sage green, like a Dulux colour wheel. Tbh if you want an unusual name that none of the other kids have got I’d go for Jean, they’re won’t be any others !
Maybe sage - Korean name- Jean might work. Really love bronte.

Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 16:08

@MerryMarigold

As one of the most beautiful Korean spring flowers, azaleas have a faithful purple color.

Azalea is even cooler than Magnolia. I love names with a z in.

Oh I love that I need to add it on my list too! Thank you! 😅

Hohofortherobbers · 11/03/2022 16:07

Can I toss in Sorrell and Luna? Suki is nice but I'm struggling with your other choices

Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 16:06

@ValkyrieVik

PLEASE DONT NAME YOUR BABY MINJI!!

Apricot Jean come back - all is forgiven!! 😂 😂 😂

Omg you made me cry laugh for real 🤣

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 16:06

Ahhh, okay. I got the Minji thing.

TatianaBis · 11/03/2022 16:06

Chin-Sun is fine - Minji def doesn’t work.

AdrianCanChaseMe · 11/03/2022 16:06

I actually know a Bronte.

She gets lots of jokes about having a sore arse. (Brontosaurus)

Please don't call your child Minji.

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 16:06

Oh and I know a lovely Cherry and it's nice on her but I would be worried about some sexually suggestive jokes.

MerryMarigold · 11/03/2022 16:05

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 16:05

What exactly is wrong with Minji? Maybe I'm not getting the slang thing because I know two Minji/Minjee from Korea (both with the same surname but not related) and I always found it nice. However, as far as I know it's the Jennifer of Korea and was really really common there in the 80s and 90s.

I like Sage. It's nice.

I dislike Magnolia. The flower is beautiful but the name sounds awkward and she will be just another Maggie.

I wouldn't recommend Chin-Sun because they are two English words.

PragmaticWench · 11/03/2022 16:05

Ember, Cherry, Bronte are all good.

Minji is too like minge. Blush

Teenylittlefella · 11/03/2022 16:03

Minji is a definite no if you live in the UK. It sounds like "minge-y", minge being a crude word for female genitals. I'd avoid Chin-sun as those are both English words and a chin isn't a very "pretty" image. All the others are nice.

MerryMarigold · 11/03/2022 16:03

Minji bit too close to minge.

I think if baby is quarter Korean I would go for Korean name in the middle.

Magnolia/ Maggie is nice (any famous Korean flowers)
Ember, Cherry and Sage are nice.

PoleFairy · 11/03/2022 16:02

Bae - I don't think this would translate in the UK well as people use it to call their friends/boyfriends to mean Before Anyone Else
Chin-Sun - nice
Minji - wouldn't translate well to UK as minge is a vulva
Moon - I like
So-Ok - nice
Sailor - nice
Ember - dont like so much
Cherry - nice. I went to school with a girl named Cherry. Its unusual but doesn't feel too out there because it sounds similar to the popular name Cheryl.
Magnolia - love love this name and has potential for nickname Maggie
Bronte - this is ok. I went to college with a girl name Bronte and it suited
Sage - really like. Such a fresh
Venus - not massively

Bring back Story which I love!

Babdoc · 11/03/2022 16:02

Sook isn’t good in Scots either. It’s someone who sucks up to people with flattery to curry favour.

ValkyrieVik · 11/03/2022 16:01

What about Suki? Then it has the Korean sound of Sook but it's nicer IMO.
