Following on from my other thread I've amended my name choices.
I'd appreciate help/advice on which is nicest.
Middle name would be Jean (named for my nana I can't compromise on this).
I'm half Korean so have picked some Korean names too this time as well. I could add the Korean name as another middle name after my nanas though:
Bae
Chin-Sun
Minji
Moon
So-Ok
Sailor
Ember
Cherry
Magnolia
Bronte
Sage
Venus
Yes I've ditched Apricot & taken on board some of the advice you ladies have given me I appreciate it x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Azalea Jean or Zinnia Jean, they are both flowers so recognisable and not too out there but not popular.

Sailor is an occupation and not a name so I'm not too keen on occupations and surnames as first names. For eg, if she becomes a Dr then her name would be Dr. Sailor Jean Surname. Think ahead a bit, you're naming an adult as well as a baby so a cute name isn't appropriate for an 18 year old.

JaneEyress · 12/03/2022 02:49

One more vote here for Azalea Jean. I also like the previous suggestions of finding other Korean names that work better in an English context.

Moonshine Minge! I am dead. Grin

Boopeedoop · 12/03/2022 02:32

Sailor - Jean reads the nicest to me.

Rosieposie101 · 12/03/2022 02:21

Like I said before, I live in Asia and the "English names" I've seen many people choose for themselves/their children are so cute and I wish I could pull them off! Could you choose something like this? Some commonly used "English names" here are:
Honey
Coco
Cici
Winnie
Cherry
Suki
Moon
Sunny
Vivi
Skye
And, inexplicably, Doris.

Rosieposie101 · 12/03/2022 02:15

I agree with the above that your baby is only a quarter Korean so going with a fully very Korean name might be a bit odd. I am 1/4 African (don't want to name the country as it's a bit outing) but have blue eyes and pale skin so if I'd been named a very recognisable name from this culture it would have been a bit odd, especially these days when everyone is constantly banging on about cultural appropriation. Id have had to explain myself constantly.

@birdie90

Sorry but all of these names except Ember and Bronte are awful. If you like Moon how about Luna instead?

Please be more considerate towards your child, they will have this name for the rest of their life (probably). It’s not just about bullying and it’s sad that’s something that needs to be considered but it can also affect one’s self esteem. I am not sure how old you are but this isn’t just an opportunity to be edgy, it sounds harsh but I am looking out for your child.

Yeah this. Chin Sun is fine as long as you’re Korean. Some of the others are stupid bordering cruel. I’m usually the opposite of this on naming threads and roll my eyes at people insisting naming your child x is awful because I think most names are pretty wearable, but lots of yours really aren’t.

You aren’t naming an anime protagonist or a fanfiction/young adult novel Mary-Sue or a kitten. You’re naming a lawyer/accountant/cleaner/teacher/New Look shop assistant etc etc. A real life human being who deserves the respect of having a real name.

Rosieposie101 · 12/03/2022 02:09

Azalea is a bit of a celeb baby name. How about Zélie? It's the name of a saint, it's very rare, and it's beautiful.

Penguinevere · 12/03/2022 02:00

Moon is the best

WeasilyPleased · 12/03/2022 01:17

Azalea Jean is lovely.

Buttercup54321 · 12/03/2022 00:57

Cherry or Bronte

JeffThePilot · 11/03/2022 23:44

Azalea Jean would be lovely, I think.

Lampface · 11/03/2022 23:31

My favourites are Cherry, Bronte, Chin-Sun and Azalea. All gorgeous especially with Jean as the middle name.

Susu49 · 11/03/2022 23:17

Azalea is lovely too

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/03/2022 23:02

I don't mean to sound rude but I read the title of this thread and thought it was a joke about your earlier thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

Happenchance · 11/03/2022 22:54

Azalea Jean is nice.

I think you need to be careful because First name Jean could sound like a cleaning product, e.g. Cherry Jean, Sage Jean etc.

Other suggestions:
Linnea Jean
Minerva Jean
Zahara Jean

DPotter · 11/03/2022 22:43

Sailor - you have got to be kidding me! Please for the love of all you hold holy do not use Sailor.
Of all the professions to choose from.

Have you (and several others by the sound of it) heard the phrase "Ooo hello sailor" - said in a mincing type voice from a lady of negotiable affections (as dear Terry Pratchett would say).

I sincerely hope your partner has right of veto

Rosieposie101 · 11/03/2022 22:37

Ember and Sage are okay but a bit 'i'm trying to be different but I'm not that imaginative'

Rosieposie101 · 11/03/2022 22:36

Minji sounds like the British slang for vagina.
Bae means like, babe, too right? (Not up to take on British slang as been abroad a few years).
I am in Asia and know a few little girls named Cherry and Moon. I adore Cherry, Moon is cute too.
Sailor is quite nice although not as rare as the others.

kindahappykindsad · 11/03/2022 22:34

I know a wonderful Cherry, she's a beautiful kind natured teacher and reminds me of Miss Honey from Matilda.
Cherry Jean is gorgeous. Sailor is cool too. . Never heard of that before

Zillamop · 11/03/2022 22:16

Moon Magnolia Jean

Billandben444 · 11/03/2022 21:40

I think you're all mad. This is for a baby not a kitten Grin

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 11/03/2022 21:15

I've read both threads @Spaghetti0h and I think you sound lovely.

What about Ari? Or Nari?
They sound pretty, and will easily work to western ears)

I know someone pronounced it wrong upthread, but how about Suki?
Suki Jean is so cute
Birdie Jean Moon

JuneBug94 · 11/03/2022 20:44

Bae - no, it's an abbreviation for 'Before Anyone Else' (BF/GF)
Chin-Sun - it's okay but not so much for being bought up in the U.K. would probably be shortened to chin.
Minji - absolutely not. Minge.
Moon - love
So-Ok - how is it pronounced? I read your description Suh-k as suck? It looks like a start of a sentence. Sooo.. okay?
Sailor - love
Ember - like
Cherry - slightly chavvy but okay
Magnolia - dulux paint
Bronte - love
Sage - I like as a middle name
Venus - razor.

Willow
Nova
Storm
Heather
Autumn
Oak

TheVanguardSix · 11/03/2022 20:34

I love Cherry. I went to school with a Cherry Fe. I loved her name.

sevensleeps · 11/03/2022 20:30

Fwiw I think Sailor and Sage are nice!
