Following on from my other thread I've amended my name choices.
I'd appreciate help/advice on which is nicest.
Middle name would be Jean (named for my nana I can't compromise on this).
I'm half Korean so have picked some Korean names too this time as well. I could add the Korean name as another middle name after my nanas though:
Bae
Chin-Sun
Minji
Moon
So-Ok
Sailor
Ember
Cherry
Magnolia
Bronte
Sage
Venus
Yes I've ditched Apricot & taken on board some of the advice you ladies have given me I appreciate it x

Cherry Jean sounds like Billie Jean

ProfessorSillyStuff · 29/03/2022 01:47

I really like the word sakura in Japanese as a name, I don't know what the Korean word for it would be.

SylvanianBunnies · 29/03/2022 01:38

I know I am commenting pretty late, but if you are going for a Korean name, please don't choose anything other than Chin-sun from your list. Bae is more of a surname, Minji is too common and a generation or two older, Sook is for ladies in her 60s. I assume you got the names from a British app/website? I found them super far from actual Korean naming conventions. I recommend taking a look at a Korean website with some help from Google Translate.

Tsuni · 21/03/2022 23:12

OP, are you due soon? I'm invested in this now and want to know what name you do actually go for Grin

Newestname002 · 17/03/2022 03:37

Also Brontë is a lovely name. 🌹

Newestname002 · 17/03/2022 03:36

What about Linden? I went to school with someone with this name. So Linden Jean? The short form of Lin is OK too I think. 🌹

mathanxiety · 17/03/2022 03:31

I love Chin-Sun, Sailor, and also Azalea.

My DCs watched Sailor Moon years ago, happy memories...

KosherDill · 17/03/2022 02:19

@ValkyrieVik

PLEASE DONT NAME YOUR BABY MINJI!!

Apricot Jean come back - all is forgiven!! 😂 😂 😂

Lol!

Magnolia Jean isn't bad. Maggie as nickname.

octoberfarm · 17/03/2022 02:02

I like Ember, Sage and Sailor Smile Also Story from your other thread. Might Maple be an option? Heard it once and thought it was lovely.

Herewegoagain84 · 16/03/2022 21:19

Another vote for Azalea here! Along the same lines as some of your suggestions.

HeadlessGummyBears · 16/03/2022 06:04

With the ever rising popularity of K-POP, the younger generation will probably be more familiar with Korean names 💙

DogsAndGin · 15/03/2022 20:57

Chin-Sun is so elegant! I love it

babyjellyfish · 15/03/2022 09:30

@MerryMarigold

As one of the most beautiful Korean spring flowers, azaleas have a faithful purple color.

Azalea is even cooler than Magnolia. I love names with a z in.

I didn't know azaleas were a thing in Korea.

Azalea is my guilty pleasure name and you could use Zalie as a nickname which I think it fabulous.

Otherwise OP, I would go for Cherry or Magnolia and use one of the Korean names as a middle name. I like Moon as a middle name.

LetItGoHome · 15/03/2022 08:00

I think the pp has the perfect suggestion of Azalea Jean. It feels very right and fits your brief. Beautiful 🥰

nee22 · 14/03/2022 20:43

Cherry Jean is so cute! Put whatever you like after that. Apart from Minji.

HeadlessGummyBears · 13/03/2022 12:51

how well*

[forever wishing for an edit button 😅]

HeadlessGummyBears · 13/03/2022 12:50

I think Azalea Jean Moon Last Name sounds lovely. I would also like to add Iris or Rose as other floral options. I do also like Sage, Sailor and Magnolia from your options, but not sure how it would fit with Jean. I actually have a lovely student named Cherry, she doesn’t get picked on at all.

Oh and if you like Luna, you might also like Stella or Celeste which has the same sort of vibes as Moon.

Other Korean name suggestions, which aren’t too difficult to spell or pronounce, would be:
Chanmi
Dana
Eunji
Fei
Hana

Haru
Jisoo
Min
Yoora

I do like Haru as a first name. Haru Jean Moon sounds lovely as well. Not sure well the other options would go with Jean but I just loved how they sounded and I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a Korean first name because the world is always changing.

rebekuh · 13/03/2022 10:28

Please remove Minji

Susu49 · 13/03/2022 09:11

@ChairCareOh

Magnolia is a really bland paint colour popularized in the 1980s. It’s still the colour of choice for a lot of landlords.

I like Chin-Sun but it will be shortened to Chin. Would a kid mind being called Chin for the rest of their life?

I don't see why given that she'll know it as a Korean name first and English word second.

Op my friends who are Chinese or Korean are always known by their chinese/Korean names and no one bats an eyelid. They also have alternative British first names which I'm guessing they might have used more as children.

DeadButDelicious · 13/03/2022 09:04

Gonna go against the grain here apparently and say that your Korean name choices are lovely, I don't see how they 'won't work in the UK', aside from Minji which is a bit to close to Minge in its written form and Bae being a slang term amongst kids. The rest are lovely names.

I do like the name Azalea that was suggested upthread so here are my
Suggestions.

Azalea Jean Chin-Sun
Azalea Jean Moon
Azalea Jean So-ok
Azalea Jean Bronte

OctaviaRedQueen · 13/03/2022 08:53

Cherry is lovely. We had a Cherry at school, she was super cool with East Asian heritage and didn’t get any ‘pop the cherry’ jokes as far as I know! I also know a Cheryl who goes by the nn Cherry.

I'll let my stunningly gorgeous friend Rae (short for Raelene) know you disapprove - but personally I love it :-)

MoodySky · 13/03/2022 05:30

I like Sage, but it doesn't go well with Jean.

As others have said, Azaelea is really pretty.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 13/03/2022 05:15

@Legalconundrums

Neroli Aubretia Fern Willow Blossom Moon-Rae Zinnia Billie

All go well Jean ;-)

Anything '-Rae' is beyond dreadful and sounds like a man in a string vest. Cherry is lovely though, OP.
