Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

Brockley is quite nice for a puppy.

I seem to have puppies on my mind today

Moyny · 11/03/2022 17:51

I didn't have lunch today and my blood sugar must have gone a bit weird, because I thought there was something mildly adorable about a baby called after a lettuce variety. Blush

It could go about in little green frilly bonnets, and as soon as it was able to toddle solo, it would be toddling down to the register office asking whether toddlers can do deed poll name changes.

I know a friend with a baby called 'Little Gem.'

A nickname? It's a nickname. PLEASE say it's a nickname. Shock NO-ONE would call their child LITTLE GEM! FFS. Hmm
@murmuratingstarling.

Little Gem was in response to the original Brockley post. As were the other names. Grin

And Brockleigh as an alternative spelling was in there too.

Sorry, we really need an irony button on this board. Should be easy to do if anyone from MN is about.

RaininSummer · 11/03/2022 17:37

All seem odd to me. Least irritating is Ember but not sure being named after the dwindling bits of a fire is especially nice or meaningful.

whatajuckingfoke · 11/03/2022 17:32

It's me that didn't get the Brockley thing. I'm autistic so I tend to take things rather literally, or get jokes until they're pointed/spelled out to me!

But I am laughing now. Very good! Grin

MurmuratingStarling · 11/03/2022 17:26

I am PMSL at how SO many people have not 'got' the post by @RobertaFirmino 🤣

How about C'Aujette if you want something different? Then there's Brockley, Cayle, Spinnashe and Karatte. If you want Jean as a middle name, what about Oberre?.

Like 'hmmm, not sure about that' and 'sounds nice.' and 'oh Brockley is nice but what if it gets mixed up with Broccoli!

And 'oooh I like those names, but what about spelling it Brockleigh?' 'And Kail is a good spelling, more feminine....' Grin

Just have Jean

They test are ridiculous

viques · 11/03/2022 17:23

@whatajuckingfoke

Brockley? Forever to be known as broccoli!
Brockley is full of irony you know.
MyBottleOfRibena · 11/03/2022 17:11

Go around for a week or so and introduce yourself as Apricot, and see how many times you have to explain it or confirm that yes, you did say Apricot. That is what your daughter will have to put up with forever

🤣 oh yea, brocolli, i hate brocolli lol!!!
MbwaKali · 11/03/2022 17:01

It’s a no from me. They’re all awful, sorry.

GlitteryGreen · 11/03/2022 16:59

@maddy68

Cherry is actually a name at least and it's quite nice.
I agree! I have read a book where the main character's name was Cherry. I think it's sweet.

Brockley 😍

I wish I had of thought of that.

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/03/2022 16:36

@GalactatingGoddess - I am not closed minded. I am mindful of the consequences for the child of having a name with potentially unwanted connotations and which could leave them open to lifelong ridicule.

maddy68 · 11/03/2022 16:30

maddy68 · 11/03/2022 16:29

Honestly the only one I would even partly consider is ember the rest will sound so hideous when she is an adult

whatajuckingfoke · 11/03/2022 16:26

@BellatrixOnABadDay

Not only have I got Bananarama in my head but now daydream believer. Cheer up sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean....
Same! Grin But tbf the OP is probably far too young to get those 'oldie' references!
Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 16:24

@Kite22 yes I did make another post on someone's suggestion. With different names as discussed on this post.
Yes I am interested in opinions?
I don't understand your point.
I was replying to someone directly before that wasn't you.

@Kite22

Really? So nice of you to say I guess ... You have a good day too

The point is, you started a thread to ask for opinions.
Presumably you would only ask an anonymous forum, so that you get honest answers and find out what people are actually thinking.

You've found that your friends have smiled and politely told you they like them/ Then you chose to go to a huge international forum where people don't want you, to garner actual opinion, not friends "being nice".

The fact you have started another thread suggests you still want opinions. So will will get them.

Hmm ok I was replying to the person who made that comment not directly to you, I didn't mean to offend I seem to keep offending people on here. Apologies.
@CyranoCyrano erm...no. I didn't say when I see novels I think of stories. I said I like the name Story on an adult because I picture novels and libraries. It feels mature and grown up, exciting, other worldly. I like the feel of names and am quite visual. I like a name to make me picture something or feel something.
Well obviously with the name story you would think novels (aka stories) and libraries (places where they keep stories). I would say it’s not visual it’s stating the obvious…and it’s factual not exciting or other worldly.

If it was a question on family fortunes - where would you find a story - in a library, on a bookshelf - yes all 100 people thought exactly the same.
