Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

@TheHuntingOfTheSarky

Would your shortened version of Apricot be Aapri?
The best nickname was suggested by a pp- Ape.

@EvelynBeatrice

Jessamy Jean is pretty. Romilly. Verity. Astrid. I once knew a Persephone abbreviated to Persey which was really pretty. Bríony. Briana.
I love your username, OP Evelyn Beatrice is a lovely name!
cheapskatemum · 12/03/2022 08:02

I like Ember! It reminds me of Amber, but with a twist. The association with a glowing light is a positive one for me and I think Ember Jean sounds lovely.

I also like Cherry. Ed Sheeran's wife is called Cherry. The more I think about the slang meaning of "popping one's cherry", I just hope that society has moved on from such archaic notions by the time your daughter is a teenager.

The op has opened another thread with new name choices and has abandoned this one.

@Topseyt

All of them are shit. Just awful.
Is that really necessary?

@Clarabe1

That's hilarious. I knew a Chris P. Bacon at work once. Also a Gordon Bennett 😂

WeasilyPleased · 11/03/2022 22:06

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I don't care. What about Genie? It's super unused but Jeanie is a recognised name.
Sure she may get sick of spelling it but I think in my new mum sleep deprived state that it's cute!

Lettice is an old fashioned name. I like it.

Clarabe1 · 11/03/2022 21:49

@Tdcp I knew a Cherry. All was well until she married a chap whose last name was Pye.

Clarabe1 · 11/03/2022 21:47

are you serious? Apricot??? That’s just cruel. Call her Mary and stop trying so hard. Grin

@MurmuratingStarling

Sorry *@viques* I didn't get it. Little gem lettuce. The irony of me saying LOL at people not getting someone else's post! Grin How embarassing. Blush Grin

@whatajuckingfoke

It's me that didn't get the Brockley thing. I'm autistic so I tend to take things rather literally, or get jokes until they're pointed/spelled out to me!

But I am laughing now. Very good!

Flowers Wasn't just you! After me taking the mick, I missed one too. Serves me right! Grin

Don't worry, I'm quite used to not getting the joke! It's a frequent occurrence in my life! Grin

Story is beautiful. I know 2 horses called Ember so it's a horsey name to me. Venus is nice. But please don't call your child Apricot. It's a furry fruit that looks like a bum.

DemBonesDemBones · 11/03/2022 20:27

Apricot?!

Tdcp · 11/03/2022 20:04

@Spaghetti0h

I saw the other thread op, are you ok? That was quite nasty from start to finish on the whole.

On another note, I like Story! I also love Cherry, I almost called my dd Cherry.(I am actually twice your age as well 😉). A girl I used to look after had a middle name of Jean after her nan and she was always called "first name Jean", she's 24 now and she still insists on it, it's lovely.

Go with what makes you happy, if everyone only ever had the usual normal names, everyone would still be called Elizabeth or Anne, I say this as someone with a very unusual name and shockingly it was the one thing I wasn't actually bullied for !

MurmuratingStarling · 11/03/2022 19:58

Yeah @Nanny0gg I can't believe that in ten years of teaching, not ONE SINGLE CHILD has taken the piss out of another's name.

Nanny0gg · 11/03/2022 19:56

@RavenclawsRoar

I like Ember (I know a baby Ember!) and Venus. Also like Cherry and Sage if you are still considering those. I agree with the pp who said bullies bully regardless of names. I've been a teacher for over 10 years and I've never known anyone be bullied for their name. I get kind of goddess-y vibes from the names you like, so will suggest Celeste, Thalia and Athena.
Really?

I've known loads of kids who have the piss taken out of them for their names, from my schooldays to the present.

Any excuse.

peaceinourtime · 11/03/2022 19:36

I don't get the attraction for the name Ember, I have heard of people called it a few times. An ember is an escaped fire run. Why would any one what to be called that?

RampantIvy · 11/03/2022 18:24

Brockley is on the London Bridge Line between Honor Oak Park and New Cross Gate. It was on my commute many years ago.

Sorry, but to me it is an area in South London.
