Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Skinnytailedsquirrel · 11/03/2022 13:19

I saw the title and thought someone was testing names for their new cat or dog and I thought "stupid bloody names for a cat or dog"

Wonnle · 11/03/2022 13:18

Hazelnut ?

Ellaraine · 11/03/2022 13:18

Story is my absolute favourite girls name. I'm finished having children but if I ever had a baby girl she would be called Story.

loislovesstewie · 11/03/2022 13:18

But Jeanne in French isn't pronounced Jean, is it? So that's another problem.

Joystir59 · 11/03/2022 13:18

@FayCarew

Venus - fine if you are a world class beautiful tennis player but otherwise a lot to live up to Story - as in likely story or story telling? Ember - a small piece glowing in a dying fire? Apricot - Ape for short?
Apricot- Ape for short Grin

Venus is nice, a strong name and still really unusual!
Story and Ember are lovely and whimsical.

Apricot is the only one I don't like as much x

No. Please don't.
WithASpider · 11/03/2022 13:17

My friend has a son called Story, seemed odd at first but lovely now!
I like Cherry too, and Ember. Cherry could always be Cheri/Cherie?

parrotonthesofa · 11/03/2022 13:17

I like ember and Venus.

Do not like apricot.

Not sure about story

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 11/03/2022 13:16

Why not go retro and opt for Savannah or Chardonnay.

There are thousands of names that are supposed to be names. It all sounds too try hard.

Nopetryagain · 11/03/2022 13:15

Other than Venus (which sounds like a fake stripper name) these are no more names than Corridor, Feta or Only. Just random words.

hedgehog17363 · 11/03/2022 13:14

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

it sounds like a litter of retriever puppies working in a strip bar.
🤣🤣🤣
TheOriginalEmu · 11/03/2022 13:13

@Hurrylittlefroggy

...You're not serious, are you?

Ember is ok at a push but she will get called Amber. Venus is a lot to live up to. Story and apricot are your pregnancy hormones talking. They're not names.

I know an Ember. People call her Amber very occasionally. Far less often than the call me by a name similar to my very very normal name anyway!
3isthemagicnumber3 · 11/03/2022 13:13

Apricot? That’s just cruel.

TerryOrange · 11/03/2022 13:13

Please don’t be an idiot

Joystir59 · 11/03/2022 13:12

Middle name Jean? For real? You would call a beloved baby girl Story Jean? Hand her over to social services for adoption.

Lampface · 11/03/2022 13:12

Ember Jean is lovely. I quite like Story Jean too. Apricot no. Venus... hmmm, maybe. But I'm not a fan.

IcakethereforeIam · 11/03/2022 13:11

Ember might catch on!
Venus and the rest, nah!
Someone suggested Wren, which I like. Small brown bird, extremely loud for its size.
Seren is Welsh for star. Decide on the pronunciation, Clementeen or Clementine.
I would always be wary of naming a child after a characteristic, eg Grace will be a heffalump, Charity will be mean, etc.
Swarfega, so funny!
It's a bit of a minefield. Anyway, have fun and all the best to you both.

TYbakedpotato · 11/03/2022 13:11

What type of surname will she have?

If it's a Western sounding surname, I think it would be lovely to have a Korean first name + Jean as her middle name. Then she has links to your lovely nana, and to her mixed ethnicity. She can mix and match whether she's using her Korean name or English name (Jean).

I did like Cherry when someone first suggested it, but then when someone else pointed out possible taunts about 'popping her cherry', I went off it.

Ember isn't terrible, but your daughter will have to spend the rest of her life correcting it. You said you didn't have a common surname, so she's going to have to spell out both her first name and surname forever.

There are some more 'interesting' names that are easier to hear/spell, so if you want something a bit more out there, I'd compromise a bit.

Echobelly · 11/03/2022 13:11

I quite like Story, but Ember Jean has a nice ring to it together, although I agree everyone with think it's Amber, so maybe Story is the best of lot.

Would never get taken seriously by kids or adults as Apricot, I'm afraid, and Venus is.... well, let's say it's putting rather a lot on a girl to be named after the eternally beautiful Goddess of Love!

Chipperfish · 11/03/2022 13:11

Cherimoya

Heronwatcher · 11/03/2022 13:11

Well I think they’re all lovely. Have you considered Gillette, Fabrication, Kindling and Persimmon for siblings?

Marvellousmadness · 11/03/2022 13:11

Hahaha I'm dyingGrin those are the worst names ever. Good stirring up thread though

Chipperfish · 11/03/2022 13:11

Not Apricot - thats not unique enough, and you would get all the pronunciation ay- pricot or ah pricot issues
So Kumquat. Or Yuzu. Or Chermioya

MayBMaybenot · 11/03/2022 13:11

For goodness sake OP .... please don't do this to your child!! None of them!! ..... they will all leave the poor thing open to all sorts of issues going forward.
