Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

Ember Jean runs together if said fast...it's reminiscent of aubergine and now I can't unhear it.

It's a shame because I don't mind Ember!

Memyselfandfood · 11/03/2022 13:41

I’m sorry, but no.
Venus, ok still not sure i’d use it.
Please think about your child having to constantly correct people.
Kids also can be very cruel.
You don’t need to pick a common name, but please atleast use a name.
It’s not nice growing up constantly correcting people nor being teased.

Curiousgeorgia5 · 11/03/2022 13:41

Ember is lovely, I vote for that one.

Story is v pretty too, never thought of it as a name before.

Some people just come to baby names to be rude!

@ArtichokeAardvark

Sorry, I clicked into this thread from the homepage expecting it to be about naming a pet. They are really unkind names for a child.
@ArtichokeAardvark - aww come on - didn't you see OP's request for not being nasty to her re her name choices and you're probably double her age or older if you disagree!
longcoffeebreak · 11/03/2022 13:41

These are dogs names not people

lochmaree · 11/03/2022 13:41

Ember would be my favourite out of those.

Two other unusual names we had on our girls list were:
Enya
Anastasia

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/03/2022 13:41

I do think trying to be "unique" with names often has the opposite effect and just ends up being cringey.

Helloninjas · 11/03/2022 13:40

I like them all but apricot. Jean was on my girls list last baby but I had a boy.

OohThatCat · 11/03/2022 13:40

Ember is the best of a bad bunch but people will continually mishear that as Amber.

Jean is lovely, why not Jean? I’ve never met a Jean in my life, it’s not that common.

SynchOrSwim · 11/03/2022 13:40

Saffron? Naturey but well used as a name? Blossom?

EmpressSuiko · 11/03/2022 13:40

Ember is beautiful!

Gonnagetgoing · 11/03/2022 13:40

@Spaghetti0h - I hope you don't think it was me being unkind. There's always the report button if you don't like a post.

Yes a few of us are older but I have younger friends and they wouldn't call their kids any of these (have asked them in past with similar names).

itsnevertolate · 11/03/2022 13:39

I know an little girl called Ember she's lovely and really suits her name. It not my favourite name but I don't think it's weird or horrible. I also quite like Story, I think it would be shortened to Rory or Store though.

Charmatt · 11/03/2022 13:39

Good luck to her finding a job!

lottiegarbanzo · 11/03/2022 13:39

Jean makes me think of Jean Louise Finch in TKAMB, aka Scout Finch. How about Scout?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/03/2022 13:37

I'm 31 and think those names are all awful to be honest.

Bicnod · 11/03/2022 13:37

I think Ember Jean sounds good. Not keen on the others.

AliceIntWunderland · 11/03/2022 13:37

Sailor….? And in years to come everyone will say “hello sailor” in that piss take type way people say. A lifetime of ridicule, thanks mum

Suggestions of non top 20 names which are all better than your suggestions:

Amanda, Belinda, Caroline, Deborah, Elizabeth, Fiona, Gail, Hester, Iona, Joanna, Katherine, Lucy, Mary, Nicola, Olive, Petra, Quita, Rosemary, Sarah, Tamsin, Ursula, Veronica, Wendy, Xian, Yolande, Zoe.

URGH! Some of those names are awful.. I would never curse a baby - in 2022 - with some of those names! Shock Where the HELL did you find them? Or are they just your choices? 🤣

Mary? Hester? Wendy! QUITA? OLIVE?! BELINDA!!! LMFAO! 🤣[/quote]
Yes exactly 💯 😂

Sailor? Seriously? Just call her Jean with an equally sensible second name unless you want her to spend her school days fending off bullies.

poetryandwine · 11/03/2022 13:36

I have known 2 young women named Cherry, both my personal tutees at my U.K. university. One from S Korea, one from China. Both smart, nice (and pretty). So perhaps the name Cherry would honour your heritage?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/03/2022 13:36

@Spaghetti0h

Thanks to the lady who suggested Sailor I actually really like that! I'm going to look into Korean names too.
Why Korean? Are you or your partner Korean?
Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 13:36

A handful of people have been particularly unkind!
Thank you to everyone whose been gentle.
I am betting all you nasties are double my age or more? ☠😑
I've run the names past my friends now & the only one they've thought is out there was Apricot

You can’t do Story Jean

It sounds like Storage Ian
