What are your thoughts on Kyra, pronounced KY-ra?

I really like it but it annoys me that it doesn't have a clear etymology and that it might get confused with Ciara (Keira, Kiera, Kira) KEE-ra.

Do you think people will pronounce it KY-ra, as I am intending?

Do you like it?

Does it feel too trendy or insubstantial?

I like it and would assume KY-ra like you say.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2022 17:24

I think it will get pronounced like Ciara, not with an "eye" sound.

Changethetoner · 10/03/2022 17:21

I'd think it was pronounced same as Keira, but spelled in a yoonique way.

I know a Kyra pronounced Ky ra she's in her late 20s. I really like it. I think people ate more likely to pronounce it ky ra rather than anything else

People will think it’s pronounced like Kiera because some Kiera’s spell it like that (eg Kyra Sedgwick).

Kye-rah does sound insubstantial and nothing-y to me, and very harsh - sorry. Ciara is lovely though.
