I'm due a baby boy this week hopefully! We have 4 names so far - Jordan, Zachary, Jude or my partner loves Zidane - which is your fave - if any ? Many thanks 😊

Zakariya could work too

Calandor · 09/03/2022 17:28

Jude is best but also like Zachary.

Never heard Zidane and dislike Jordan (makes me think of Katie Price or naughty boys).

estoybien · 09/03/2022 17:28

Zachary

Goldfishmountainclimber · 09/03/2022 17:06

Jude or Zachary.

I have met some bad Jordans and so it doesn’t have good connotations for me.

AchillesHeelys · 09/03/2022 17:00
  1. Jude
  2. Zachary
  3. Jordan
  4. Zidane Confused
ISmellBurnings · 09/03/2022 16:56

Jordan is the name my friend chose for her baby back in the 90s when she got pregnant aged 16. That’s what it reminds me of. It’s dated.

I like Zachary and Jude.

Zidane just remains me of the footballer.

FayCarew · 09/03/2022 15:19

Many of the Old Testament names have arabic equivalents, OP.

Adam, Yusuf, Ibrahim, Idriss, Sulamein, Zakariya etc

lifestoooshort · 09/03/2022 14:57

@FayCarew

Your three are biblical and Zidane is Arab
Yes that's true - I'm English partner Pakistani - will find a compromise I'm sure !

@ladycarlotta

I prefer Jordan for a girl these days. It feels a bit stale for a boy - there were so many when I was at school in the 90s. But it's your baby and not an objectively horrible name!

Jude would be my choice.

I’ve never heard of Jordan for a girl apart from Katie Price’s glamour model nickname
Trinacham · 09/03/2022 10:10

Jordan or Zachary (I guess he'd be called Zach most of the time?). Classrooms are going to be filled with Judes so I personally wouldn't choose this (it was on my list too but didn't go with it as I know so many now!)

Lemonweightloss · 09/03/2022 10:10

Jordan is a great name. If you love it and your dh likes it, I think you should go for it. It was popular in the 90s, same as Joshua ( I have nephews Jordan and Joshua in their 30s). We call our Jordan, Jude.
The positive to it being dated is there won't be tons of them ! I think it's due a comeback.
I don't like Jude as a full name. Zachary I'm not keen on, but I can see its appeal. It's a good name for a child, teenager and adult !
Zidane - I first thought of Zane. Might get confused with that name. It could grow on me though.
Good luck !

lifestoooshort · 09/03/2022 09:46

@fedoratheexplorer0

I absolutely love the name Jordan, I don't think it's outdated at all Confused.
Ahh someone who likes it too ! Thank you 😊

Zachary. I like Jude but it makes me think of Hardy's Jude the Obscure and his tale was so sad.

helpmum2003 · 09/03/2022 08:24

Zachary. I haven't heard it for ages and it sounds great.

Personally find Jude too trendy and Jordan very dated and didn't like it anyway. Zidane sounds like the footballer....

becca3210 · 09/03/2022 08:22

*Jordan

becca3210 · 09/03/2022 08:22

Zachary or Jude. Don't like Jordon sorry

WatermelonLemonade · 09/03/2022 08:18

Jude

Caramelcap · 09/03/2022 08:16

I like Jordan but I'd go with Zachary out of those choices.

I like Z names, I've got a Zayne 😊

poodlepoop · 09/03/2022 01:04

Zidane only with the nickname Zizou ⚽️

AuntTwacky · 09/03/2022 00:53

Jude
Def not Zidane...
