Initials A.S.S...

We're finalizing a name for newborn DS.
Love Bertie, but Albert is the only viable long form name we can agree on.
However, our surname is double barreled, both beginning with S.
So his initials would be ASS.
Is this as awful as I suspect or am I overthinking it?!

Oh dear, viques, never thought of that.

viques · 06/03/2022 00:45

Robert wouldn’t really help as then he would be an arse not an ass.

Marcipex · 06/03/2022 00:42

No.
Bertram is nice.

Flippy87 · 06/03/2022 00:40

Go for Bertrand/Bertram/Hubert/Robert instead

LizzieAnt · 06/03/2022 00:35

Maybe BS isn't that great either Marty13 ?Grin
I know it would be BSS really, but sometimes one of the surnames might get left out (a pp has mentioned this happens her child with a double-barrelled surname).

Marty13 · 06/03/2022 00:01

Yeah I'd have another look to find a Bert name you both like that doesn't start with A. Bertrand ? Bertram ? Wilbert ? (I actually like Bertram quite a lot !)

Kittykatmacbill · 05/03/2022 23:35

There are loads of Bert names - Robert, Cuthbert, Hubert. I am not sure why you would want call your boy ass…

octoberfarm · 05/03/2022 23:30

Another one who's generally pretty laid back about these things but oh my goodness, please don't do it! Is Robert a possibility?

nocoolnamesleft · 05/03/2022 23:28

Even Osbert would be better than ASS initials.

DelurkingAJ · 05/03/2022 23:27

I used to work somewhere where you had to initial all your working papers, with three initials if you had them because otherwise there were too many duplicates to distinguish each person. Just don’t!

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/03/2022 23:24

@peekintheduck

These were my initials until I got married!!! No one ever noticed as I never really liked or spoke of my middle name. I hate my middle name. I can't say it was ever as issues but quite funny to tell people. I miss these initials 😂
It’s not a middle name, it’s a first name plus couple barrel surname.

It’s not ok.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/03/2022 23:23

Of course it’s awful.

AHungryCaterpillar · 05/03/2022 23:22

Nope, would you like your initials to be ASS? I didn’t name my daughter a certain middle name as it spelt a body part and not even anything as bad a ASS!

Hasselhoffsheadband · 05/03/2022 23:20

No way!

peekintheduck · 05/03/2022 23:19

derekthe1adyhamster · 05/03/2022 23:13

I just think of automatic work email addresses

AWavyLine · 05/03/2022 23:12

Definitely not.

VimFuego101 · 05/03/2022 23:12

Don't do it!

EmmaH2022 · 05/03/2022 23:11

Don't

Ohyesiam · 05/03/2022 23:09

Glad you realised in time. Remember childhood? It can be vicious

LizzieAnt · 05/03/2022 23:07

Robert, maybe?
I wouldn't choose Albert with an SS surname.

Runnerduck34 · 05/03/2022 23:07

Just no, time for a rethink, at least you realised .
Although tbf middle names aren't always used in initials but I had to use mine in school as there were two of us with same initials.
Our DD has double barrelled surname but some clubs/ school abbreviated it to just her first name and the last name of her surname making her initials IT- she was traumatised!!

maddy68 · 05/03/2022 23:05

Just no

xraydelta · 05/03/2022 23:04

Just add one or two middle names in there!

toastofthetown · 05/03/2022 23:02

I wouldn't either. I'd either try another name with Bert in it or just go with Bert/Bertie.
