If it's OK for you to comment on OPs choice of podcast, and supposedly expect people to notice and pay attention to that comment, then that's exactly the same as people commenting on baby names...

The reaction the OP got was because her post was worded and punctuated badly, so people didn’t understand what she was talking about. She also seems to have assumed people would have heard of this podcast or SJ and Naomi, when it’s clear no one/hardly anyone has.

No the OP got the responses she got because a few posters take pleasure in acting like superior bitches and ridiculing other posters.

It’s a baby name thread, and she posted about a podcast relating to…baby names! Even after the OP apologised for the wording of her post, posters continued to take the piss.

Sorry you feel attacked OP, we’re not all bad promise!

What do people ask the name consultant?

if this is a genuine question, on the podcast SJ and Naomi answer dilemmas this could be stuff like someone can't agree on a name with the partner so they give SJ some name ideas that they like and she researches into the meaning and stuff and tries to help people out with finding a name they like, have a look on youtube

People would rather pay what I assume is a substantial amount of money, than Google 'Dave name meaning' or 'Dave name origins'?

They and I live in very different worlds.

I'm surprised by the reaction you're getting on here, OP. I haven't listened to Baby Name Envy personally but I did hear SJ interviewed on the Made by Mammas podcast a while ago and thought what she had to say was really interesting. She came up with some quite thoughtful suggestions for someone based on their criteria for a baby name.

Like you, I would have thought that the Baby Name board on Mumsnet would attract people with a general interest in names and baby name trends. It's a fairly logical conclusion to think you might come across listeners to the BNE podcast on such a board.

However, I can only conclude that this board is mainly frequented by those who just like having an opportunity to pour scorn on names such as Nevaeh and Kayden.

I listen, since just before I started expecting. I like it, but agree some names are a bit crazy.

I love the SJ and Naomi dynamic and am heartbroken to hear about naomi’s cancer diagnosis. Really upset for her.

it's the same thing, she's quite well known and gives good ideas, so people write to her for advice and she makes videos and podcasts about her
