I love the name Sasha and wondered what other people thought of it. Would you think a Sasha was a boy or a girl? Do you associate Sasha with anyone in particular?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Russian boy or Baron Cohen.

TenoringBehind · 03/03/2022 19:21

I think of it as a female Labrador’s name. But actually one of my (male) neighbours is called Sacha (pronounced Sasha) so I should think differently I suppose.

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2022 19:21

@WhoppingBigBackside

Girl, but Sascha is a boy
Sascha is German and mostly used for boys.

I wanted to call ds Sacha (French heritage). I find Sasha for a girl is like calling her Dave.

Halllyup17 · 03/03/2022 19:20

My female cousin is called Sascha. I like it, but prefer it to be spelled Sasha. I've always liked Asher for a boy.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 03/03/2022 19:18

A dog. A yellow lab.

SirChenjins · 03/03/2022 19:17

Baron Cohen (although I know he’s Sacha)

Footballsundays6777 · 03/03/2022 19:16

A boy :-) short for Aleksander, Eastern European, not just Russian

WhoppingBigBackside · 03/03/2022 19:15

Girl, but Sascha is a boy

theveryhungrycatapillar · 03/03/2022 19:13

I think girl initially but wouldn't be surprised if I met a Sasha who was a boy. Actually I love that name for either it's gorgeous Smile

YukoandHiro · 03/03/2022 19:13

Although I thought for a boy it's usually spelled Sacha

YukoandHiro · 03/03/2022 19:12

I know both male and female Sashas. They all suit their name

msbevvy · 03/03/2022 19:12

A bloke in a mankini

bigbluebus · 03/03/2022 19:11

I'd only ever heard of Sasha Distel - a French singer who was well known in the 1970's I think.

But I do know of a young girl called Sasha who lives around the corner from me.

GrandPrismatic · 03/03/2022 19:10

Baron Cohen is my first association. Second association is an American lady I know who was very lovely and effortlessly glamorous. Definitely unisex in my mind

SenecaFallsRedux · 03/03/2022 19:10

I think of Sasha Obama.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 03/03/2022 19:09

Colleague is called Sasha, (female) and its a beautiful name. One of my favourites.

Riapia · 03/03/2022 19:08

@Ourlady

Distel
Wow the most handsome man ever. 💕💕💕
Northernsoullover · 03/03/2022 19:08

@bellalou1234

That should say saskia
I did wonder wtf? 🤔 😂
furmumma · 03/03/2022 19:08

I know it's a different spelling but Sacha Levy from Holby springs to mind

Justkeeppedaling · 03/03/2022 19:07

Sasha = Russian man for me.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/03/2022 19:04

I only know one Sasha - a guy in his 20s with two British parents and no Russian heritage. He suits it very well but apparently was teased as a kid for having a “girl’s name”.

As a child my gran’s neighbour had a female German shepherd called Sasha.

amylou8 · 03/03/2022 19:04

I knew a female Sasha as a child and always thought it was a girl's name, until I met a male one. I think it's a lovely name for a girl, for me it's sounds too feminine for a boy's name.

SalsaLove · 03/03/2022 19:02

In America I would love it m but in England not so much.

Cormoran · 03/03/2022 19:02

Same here. Russian, short for Alexander.

HanSB · 03/03/2022 19:00

Russian boy - short for Alexander
