I love the name Sasha and wondered what other people thought of it. Would you think a Sasha was a boy or a girl? Do you associate Sasha with anyone in particular?

In Germany it's a boy's name.

Arsewangry · 05/03/2022 13:27

I like it. Sassy, confident gregarious.

allmysons · 05/03/2022 13:27

It's a girls name. I went to school with a Sasha (in the 80's).

Treecreature · 05/03/2022 13:20

Russians and dogs.

alwayswrighty · 05/03/2022 13:14

I love it.

AlexaShutUp · 05/03/2022 13:12

I love it, and it's one of the few names that I think is equally nice for a girl or a boy. I know both. Obviously, there is a Russian connection and I really like it as a diminutive for Alexander, but I have also known a couple of (male) South Asian Sashas, so it's fairly international. It's a great name!

beenaroundtheblox · 05/03/2022 13:12

Sasha Fierce for me

Roselilly36 · 05/03/2022 13:11

Boys name

FayCarew · 05/03/2022 13:08

@Marty13, possibly because they know a Sascha and associate it with a man

Marty13 · 05/03/2022 11:39

Not sure why people say it's a boy's name in eastern europe, it's not. It's a diminutive for either Alexander or Alexandra and as such one of few russian names (well, nicknames really) that are unisex. Shura is also unisex as far as I know.
I like it OP.

BeefSupreme · 05/03/2022 11:26

Russian NN for Alexander.

Also a bratz doll which made me think it was a girl's name.

The only sasha I've known personally was female, an extremely nice person who got a first in her degree and went on to be a very successful lawyer. I'm familiar enough with it as a boys name as well though that I'd probably consider it unisex and not make any assumptions if I heard it used out of context. I think it's a lovely name for either a girl or a boy.

Sacha Baron Cohen - www.imdb.com/name/nm0056187/

Sacha - French

Sascha - German

Both are boys names

Blubells · 04/03/2022 14:27

Sacha is French

MissDynamite23 · 04/03/2022 12:02

My first thought is the spelling - surely Sacha rather than Sasha?! I like it. We know a four year old Sacha (boy).

ukborn · 04/03/2022 11:59

My favourite cat was called Sasha. Such a beautiful girl. I love the name.

Raindancer411 · 04/03/2022 11:53

I think of my uncles dog 🐕

BurningTheToast · 04/03/2022 11:52

Sasha is a boy's name. For me, it's my six foot two Russian neighbour.

Isaisa · 04/03/2022 11:50

Boy or girl
Bratz doll

MarshMarigold22 · 04/03/2022 11:49

My first thought is "ooh, I wonder if it's a boy or a girl"? Not sure that helps!

statetrooperstacey · 04/03/2022 08:58

Lovely name, boys and girls, used more for girls in uk I think. I would assume Russian or Eastern European if a boy. I really like it, I would say every bodies heard if it but it’s not common, not where I am anyway. Use it!

Liamgallaghersparka · 04/03/2022 08:21

It's a lovely name but someone I know had a Labrador called Sasha so I associate it with dogs.

ZenNudist · 04/03/2022 08:12

It's a unisex name but for a boy of Eastern European descent. I like it.

OdeToSadDisco · 04/03/2022 08:09

I'd think girl. I know 2 Sasha's, 1 20's, 1 30's, both beautiful, smart, lovely women.

It's a lovely name.
