AJ isn't a name. It's initials.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 05/03/2022 16:54

Personally I prefer B.J better

ISmellBurnings · 05/03/2022 16:45

A’J! Clearly.

HeadlessGummyBears · 05/03/2022 16:25

Forgot to add @PancakeBae for the fishing reel icon 🎣

Mustreadabook · 03/03/2022 17:33

Ayjay

goldensilver · 03/03/2022 16:07

@Babadook76

If the name is literally just ‘AJ’ then it’s ridiculous in every option

I didnt insinuate anything about intelligence, I'm sorry you interpreted it that way.

I haven't called out individuals either but it doesn't take an in depth read to see how rude some of the replies to her post were. Completely unnecessary.

It isn't against you.

jollyhollyday · 03/03/2022 16:01
@SoupDragon I didn't say every post. But some posters have emphasised the op's spelling and grammar and made comments which read as personal attack on her intelligence.

Those are the posts I'm disgusted with. You're obviously entitled to like and dislike whatever names you choose.
No I have no clue on OP's level of education and you have no clue on mine and it's irrelevant. I could have a masters or I could have no GCSEs to my name and so too could the OP.
You are the one that is insinuating she can't have a high level of education by your comments.

My point is if you want to call your child AJ crack on but then asking should you put dots in between or not put dots in between is asking for comments.
A high court judge could ask the same question here and I would have replied the same.
Mental spellings of names and ways of writing names is asking for trouble for the child forever. Believe me I know.
Shortening a longer name to AJ is more mainstream as their actual name isn't AJ and it would make life easier for her.

Seriously don't be so silly. AJ is 2 initials. It is not a name. Don't do that to Your baby.

RuthW · 03/03/2022 12:21

Aj

Medical records won't allow any other way.

No idea about other official things.

Personally I would go with Albert Joseph.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/03/2022 11:58

Loads of PJs and JPs (of all ages) in Ireland, although they're usually John Pauls or Patrick Johns.

I'd call him Adam James (or similar) and then just call him AJ from day one.

TidyDancer · 03/03/2022 11:38

I know a BeeJay. He was going to be BJ (dad's initials) until someone pointed out the obvious. The result clearly wasn't any better.

Basically, don't do it.

Shutupyoutart · 03/03/2022 10:41

I have a family member Ajay. His mum wanted to call him aj and was trying to find names beginning with a and j that she liked so she could use it. I suggested if she wanted to call him Aj to just spell it like above as his full name. That's his name now and it really suits him couldn't imagine him as anything else 🙂 he's an awesome kid as well.

babyjellyfish · 03/03/2022 10:41

@H3lpmeplz

Just two letters
That's not a name, OP.
PukkaP · 03/03/2022 10:36

None of them

AndAsIfByMagic · 03/03/2022 10:33

Please don't people will laugh. Not fair on the poor kid.

HumpHumpWhale · 03/03/2022 10:28

Ajay isn't pronounced the same as AJ though, it's pronounced Ah-jay.
I would go with AJ and although I think it's much better to use an actual name, it's obvs up to you. Anthony James? Andrew John? Andre Julian? Loads of options. Agree re punctuation in it though, my maiden name has an O' and it was a right pain for emails etc.

SoupDragon · 03/03/2022 10:27

I'm really shocked at the class snobbery on this thread - there are plenty of names suggested on other threads which are thought awful by other people but because you dared to use a text shorthand in your post people are piling on.

Yeah, it's all to do with the "u" and nothing at all to do with the fact that naming your child with just initials is not good. 🙄

I hate it when people try to blame other people's opinions on "class snobbery". It's lazy.

Twizbe · 03/03/2022 10:26

Be wary giving names less than 3 letters. So many computer systems can't cope with them.

I used to work with a woman who's surname was E. Just E and she had issues all the time with computers not accepting it.

CharacterForming · 03/03/2022 10:25

As a fellow Red Dwarf fan I love the suggestion of Arnold Judas.

My thoughts are:
A) best not to put punctuation in names because computers hate it so AJ is best
B) don't use text speak in the title of MN threads if your intention is actually to get constructive comments (although if that's not your intention then crack on)
C) AJ off Strictly's actual name is Onatejiro which makes me wonder whether she originally went for OJ and then discarded it for dodgy connotations.

Andacherryonthetop · 03/03/2022 10:22

I wouldn’t give a baby 2 capital letters as a name. I have taught an Ajay though which I think is better. Otherwise I would give him a proper name like Archie Jay or something and shorten it to AJ so he has a proper name to fall back on which he might prefer as he gets older.

Susu49 · 03/03/2022 10:12

@jollyhollyday

Can't believe someone would consider naming their child AJ and then come on and ask how to spell it.....
But they haven't. They know how to spell, they e asked a grammatical point.

This snobbery is really disgusting. You don't know why they're asking - you're implying it's stupidity. But people experience different levels of education in this country, for different reasons and deriding someone for not knowing the same things you do is revolting.

WishIwasElsa · 03/03/2022 10:09

I've known a couple of AJ's but although that is what everyone called them they were indeed short for more usual names, Andrew John and Adam Jack.
