I vote Roland! I love it.

Tyler is over used IMO. I like Jay but only as a nickname.

Max

Ah, yes, somehow missed that!

helpmum2003 · 21/02/2022 23:34

Max

AledsiPad · 21/02/2022 23:30

My DD has a friend called Tyler and he is absolutely delightful. Bright, well behaved, kind. The Max’s are always cheeky Grin

That said, Max is a nicer name, IMO. Roland and Jay are awful, sorry OP.

Ro-land! So Grange Hill!

  1. Jay
  2. Max
  3. Tyler
  4. Roland

I don't dislike any of them though, in contrast to the general opinion. Not keen on Roland but I feel it could grow on me if I knew one.

ghettihead · 21/02/2022 23:24

Jay reminds me of The Inbetweeners

HomeHomeInTheRange · 21/02/2022 23:18

Max

oncemoreunto · 21/02/2022 22:55

Max is the most neutral choice.

People are going to make socioeconomic judgments if you go with Tyler and possibly with Jay as well.

Roland won't have that issue but may be considered a little old fashioned.

Treacletoots · 21/02/2022 22:50

Max

No.

NotRainingToday · 21/02/2022 22:27

Where is Max coming from? It's not in the OP.

Huffle · 21/02/2022 20:13

I love Roland! I know there’s Roland rat and roly poly but I still love it. Not keen on Tyler and Jay seems like a nickname or an abbreviation

TantrumsAndBalloons · 21/02/2022 19:59

15 years of teaching and I've never met a well behaved Tyler. I'm sure it's just coincidence.

I have one who was head boy in sixth form

RubyRedRoses · 21/02/2022 15:55

Max is lovely. The others aren't to my taste

freshcarnation · 21/02/2022 15:44

Roland or Max are lovely

Classica · 21/02/2022 15:42

But he'll be the same child whether his parents settle on Tyler or Max. Or do teachers actually think that particular names imbue a child with certain qualities?

donquixotedelamancha · 21/02/2022 15:17

A Reception teacher once said to me that they dreaded seeing a Tyler on their list of new pupils. Almost invariably badly behaved.

diddl · 21/02/2022 14:55

Like Max best.

Of the other three, Roland.

deadlanguage · 21/02/2022 14:47

@TantrumsAndBalloons

Tyler has too strong cultural associations

Sorry, what now?

I meant that people have preconceived notions of what someone called Tyler is like (ie naughty) and I think it’s fairer to give a more neutral name which doesn’t have that baggage. For example, Max or Jay from OP’s choices.

PriamFarrl · 21/02/2022 14:40

I don’t like any to be honest.
The first three are rather 90s in my opinion and although I like Max it’s quite common now.
