Honest opinions needed as I’m full of the preggo hormones and don’t know if it’s lovely and unusual or verging on the ridiculous!

OH says he will consider it— our surname is two syllables and quite common— We loved Aurelia previously but because of a certain partying politician it’s off the table.

Is it a step too far?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is the reference to a partying politician actually about Allegra Stratton? Or is there an Aurelia I don’t know about.

Sorry OP, I don’t like Arcadia. It sounds like a low budget cruise ship to me.

BobMortimersTrout · 20/02/2022 16:40

Am I being thick? What's the link between Aurelia and Boris Johnson? (and yes I have already tried googling)

Arcadia - Philip Green. Don't do it.
Aurelia - beautiful name.

TarcasticSwat · 20/02/2022 16:39

Aurelia and Arcadia are both pretty awful...sorry OP.

Suzi888 · 20/02/2022 16:39

@DaffodilDandilion

Philip Green
I knew it sounded familiar
BertieBotts · 20/02/2022 16:39

Isn't it a chain of shops??

VariationsonaTheme · 20/02/2022 16:39

No, it’s the name of a garden centre near me.

giggly · 20/02/2022 16:38

I’d think why just why.

MonkeyPuddle · 20/02/2022 16:38

Yeah reminds me of Arcadia Group and Phillip Green being a massive, massive arsehole.

LimeSupper · 20/02/2022 16:38

I don’t mind Arcadia actually but Aurelia is far nicer.

lucylucyapplejuicy · 20/02/2022 16:37

I think it sounds awful to be honest I prefer just Cady. Aurelia is beautiful

DameCelia · 20/02/2022 16:36

The name is lovely but I'm confused that you think you'll give a nickname as well?
Is this a new thing?
In my experience (old gimmer) nicknames evolve, the only possible influence you might have is insisting that a particular nickname can't be used, Fifi for Fiona being a cracking example!, But even then you might not get to dictate.

DaffodilDandilion · 20/02/2022 16:36

Philip Green

TrashyPanda · 20/02/2022 16:36

How would you pronounce them?

Ar-cah-dia or Ar-Kay-dia?

Cady as in tea caddy or Kay-Dee?

sayanythingelse · 20/02/2022 16:35

It just reminds me of the now defunct company that used to own Topshop, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins etc.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 20/02/2022 16:34

It's the hormones talking, give it a wide berth Grin

Easymeasy · 20/02/2022 16:31

I prefer Cadence for the nickname Cady.
