Any thoughts?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Blubell yes it is in French,; Chloe with an e acute in French sounds fairly similar to Chloe as often pronouced in English.

But Chloe is in origin an ancient Greek name and the English language has quite a long tradition of how to translate/transliterate words from ancient languages.

Intrestingly, modern Greek has a symbol over the 'o' rather than over the 'e' to show that the two vowels are pronounced separately. And the initial 'Ch' sound is very, very different from English - or French.

Don't like it, it sounds dated.

Love Zoe though.

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/02/2022 17:35

Lovely

Fl0w3ry · 17/02/2022 17:33

I like it. I’ve known a few Chloe’s over the years and they have always been lovely people.

DogsAndGin · 17/02/2022 17:31

Lovely

rambleonplease · 17/02/2022 17:30

I like it. I know a couple of Chloes my DD age, so around 9/10 and a few 20 something people I work with.

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 17/02/2022 17:27

Bit dated and 80s to me.

KirstenBlest · 17/02/2022 17:20

That's how I hear it too @TabithaHazelm, the same oes for Clara, Clare and Clemmie

TabithaHazel · 17/02/2022 17:15

I don’t love it, the sound reminds me on someone clearing their throat for some reason!

minipie · 17/02/2022 17:10

I like it. I know two in their 30s/40s and two under 8.

I wouldn’t put any accents on it though.

Blubells · 17/02/2022 17:06

blubells No, if it has anything, it has two dots over the 'e'. The dots are called a diaeresis and show that two letters, side by side, that would often be pronounced as one sound (here, 'oe', as in 'toe' or 'Joe') should be pronounced separately: Chlo-ee.

Yes you're right about the diaeresis, Chloë.

In French it's spelled Chloé though.

3peassuit · 17/02/2022 15:58

It’s a pretty name.

ouch321 · 17/02/2022 15:57

I like it.

Also like Cleo.

HelloBunny · 17/02/2022 15:55

Very pretty name.

But many/most people don't use the two dots these days.

KirstenBlest · 17/02/2022 15:30

No, but when she enters the workplace as a graduate, it will be the name of several 40-yr olds.

GunsNShips · 17/02/2022 15:16

I like Chloe - I like the way it looks as well as sounds.

It’s a well known name but less popular now than it was so you won’t find many other children their age with the name

Glitterygreen · 17/02/2022 15:10

I don't think Chloe is dated or old fashioned at all!

I have always thought it's a pretty name but for me not something I love enough to pick.

FuggyPidding · 17/02/2022 15:08

I used to love it... maybe 10 years ago... now I think it's ok but a bit meh. Dated perhaps.

And I know someone with a Chloe who pronounces the 'wee' bit a bit too obviously so maybe that's what's put me off!!

RuthW · 17/02/2022 15:06

It's ok but old fashioned.

FayCarew · 17/02/2022 13:41

Overused in the late 1990s and early 2000s so now seems dated

MrsTxx · 17/02/2022 09:55

I do like the name Chloe, it’s pretty but very common. I definitely went to school with a lot of them ( I’m in my 20s)

Puppytails · 17/02/2022 09:39

I love it

toastofthetown · 17/02/2022 09:37

Chloe feels very dated to me. It's one of those names (like Jessica, Emma Hannah, Abigail) that I'm always a little surprised are still in the top hundred.

SnakeLinguine · 17/02/2022 09:36

It feels very 90s and dated to me.
