What do you think? Any associations or general thoughts?

For our first baby- it's worked it's way to the top of the list as both my partners and my second choice over Rosa (me) and Georgina (him).
Very comfortable with Beth for short.

I have a Bethany, age 15- she does go by Beth mostly but as she gets older is using Bethany more. I love the name Smile

sunflowerdaisyrose · 15/02/2022 08:13

I like it, I also like Bethan, Elizabeth and Rosa.

TitoMojito · 15/02/2022 08:11

I love Bethany! But I also love Georgina and Rosa so you're onto a winner regardless haha

AuntieStella · 15/02/2022 08:09

@CornishGem1975

Beth is lovely. Bethany sounds a bit Eastenders.
Don't you mean Corrie?

Classic Corrie is in the early 2000 and Sarah Lou's pregnancy has just been discovered. Her baby girl will be Bethany. I do think of the name as being of that generation.

And place names in the Bible (like this one and Sharon) do seem to get attached to generations rather more readily than the names of women in the Bible

Personally I’m not keen on Beth or Bethany, Ruth could be another option, similar feel but much stronger somehow.

Saladd0dger · 15/02/2022 08:02

DD5 is a Bethany.

HuffleMyHuffle · 15/02/2022 08:01

I prefer Georgina.

ISmellBurnings · 15/02/2022 07:59

I know a Bethany.

I like Beth, and it makes a change from all the Isla/Ava//Evie names.

Not keen on Rosa as all girls have Rose as a middle name currently, so it just sort of sits with that, to me anyway.

Lissie87 · 15/02/2022 07:55

How about Rosalie…?

AlpacaThatPicnic · 14/02/2022 22:58

It's a bit wet

EdithStourton · 14/02/2022 22:48

It's lovely.

It was on my list, but DH ejected it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/02/2022 22:42

It’s ok but a bit.. lumpy.

Annabeth?

Or a build on Rose to Rosanna?

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 14/02/2022 22:29

I prefer Rosa or Georgia.

JuneySunshine · 14/02/2022 22:28

Thankfully we're in a bit of the country where the 'th's are safe from a mauling :)

Thank you for the replies, feeling quite good about Bethany (and I understand no name will win them all). It was a bit of an adjustment thinking about a 'compromise' name but 2nd on both our lists really isn't bad, and with baby due in 4 weeks I just feel like we need progess.

If we have a little Bethany I'll come back and introduce you.

I prefer Beth.

ofwarren · 14/02/2022 22:14

I live in the North West in an area where the t would be pronounced with an f, so the Bethany I knew was called Befany which eventually morphed into bare fanny Blush

HelloBunny · 14/02/2022 22:08

Lovely name! Was on my list.

LilacSloth · 14/02/2022 22:06

Really like it Smile

StopStartStop · 14/02/2022 22:05

I knew one. She'll be 41 or 42 by now. Lovely name.

RoseMartha · 14/02/2022 22:02

Love it

FAQs · 14/02/2022 21:59

It’s lovely. Not heard it for a while and don’t know.

mondler · 14/02/2022 21:56

I'm bias as it's my sisters name but I love it. She goes by Beth day by day but it's nice having the full name for formal occasions and she could always go by Bethan or Ann/Annie as well. I dont know any others.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 14/02/2022 18:15

I have a Bethany and in the family she's still Bethany although sometimes gets Beth or Betty at school. Fairly rare - I think she's only ever met 2 others, once on holiday and once in a holiday club

A note of caution - if you live anywhere where the local accent changes th to f avoid it.....it drives me nuts hearing her shouted to across the playground Beffff Beffff.

I think both Georgina & Rosa are lovely too - have you considered Georgia which despite being very late 90's is a favourite of mine but we couldn't use.

Thewindwhispers · 14/02/2022 17:56

Lovely

StopForAMinute · 14/02/2022 17:50

I like it and I know 2 who are named just Beth, not Bethany. It's a lovely name.
