Not my bag at all, but I'm watching The Sinner on Netflix and they use Percy for one of the female characters. It's strange how normal it sounds, really suits the character (let's ignore the plot), what are your thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Would you call a boy Fanny?

In some countries' slang, Percy is the male equivalent.

Apart from slang, Percy is either a surname, based on a French town, or else a short form of Percival, wich means either 'pierce the valley' or 'iron spear'. Neither seems very attractive.

Am not a fan of Persephone, but I suppose Percy could be a nickname for that. But I can think of nicer ones.

Maybe it doesn’t have the same connotations in the US?

Percy is not a great name for anyone in my opinion.
Short for Persephone?

Don't like it... To me sounds like a girls name not a boy , but I don't like it.

BlueRaincoat1 · 13/02/2022 20:29

Is it an abbreviation of Persephone? It wouldn't be for me, it's a boys name, and not one I like even fir a boy. I don't like the name Persephone either.
