Hi everyone. We’re expecting a baby boy and we’ve narrowed down to Louis or Elliot, opinions much appreciated or any other ideas welcome. Our surname is French and quite long 😊 Thankyou

Louis is a lovely name as long as it’s pronounced Lou-ee!

BasiliskFace · 13/02/2022 19:38

Louis. All those E names - Elliot, Ethan, Ellis - blur together for me. Maybe it’s just because DS has a lot of E named friends.

Elliot

StopForAMinute · 13/02/2022 14:27

Elliot.

Olga03 · 13/02/2022 14:05

Both lovely names. I slightly prefer Elliot :)

Blubells · 13/02/2022 13:07

Elliot

Louis is often pronounced Lou-is outside of France.

Love Louis. Nothing wrong with Elliott it’s just not for me.

Comedycook · 13/02/2022 11:29

Louis definitely

I do like Elliott too

Onelifeonly · 13/02/2022 11:24

Would you pronounce Louis the French way? I prefer Louis but knew someone who pronounced it Lewis, which I don't mind either. Elliot is too American for me (not that that is a reason not to choose it, just my view) - I have known quite a few Louis, no Elliots.

TatianaBis · 13/02/2022 11:22

@scootalooser

Elliot all the way! Louis is a bit pretentious
There's always one.

Only in England is a foreign name 'pretentious'.

Never mind that the surnames as first names things is entirely wannabe American.

TatianaBis · 13/02/2022 11:21

Louis by miles particularly with a French surname.

Elliot is vile and a bit bogan.

DappledThings · 13/02/2022 08:17

Louis. Elliot is a bit surnamey to me. There is the risk with Louis that people will pronounce it Lewis though.
