Can I go for Tina or is it too old fashioned ?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I’d also go for something longer to give her a choice when older. Personally I find Tina quite dated and don’t really like it.

Here’s a list of names that end in Tina.

Tina is a name of my age group (50). There was at least one in every class. Christina etc with Tina as a nn is better as Tina by itself is dated.

midsomermurderess · 13/02/2022 11:32

I have a fondness for Martina because my mother had a cousin, Martina, nn Tina who lived in Clare. I liked her very much. Don't make assumptions about people, their influences, and 'trendiness'. It's quite irritating

RedCandyApple · 13/02/2022 11:26

No no no

mUserBot9to5 · 13/02/2022 11:22

@midsomermurderess

I like it as a shortening for Martina too.
I know this name is more fashionable in Europe but it sounds so heartbreakingly banal to my Irish ear. My French friend was going to call her son Martin. She said it in a nice way MarTAN but I had to tell her no no no no no you cannot send a boy out in to the world with the name Martin.
mUserBot9to5 · 13/02/2022 11:19

Not keen. I prefer Christina or as suggested, Valentina

TatianaBis · 13/02/2022 11:18

Very dated.

But fine as a dim of Valentina.

Christina is pretty but it generally ends up as Chris/Chrissie.

midsomermurderess · 13/02/2022 11:04

I like it as a shortening for Martina too.

bloominglovelyorange · 13/02/2022 09:41

I love it!! So understated. Christina/ Valentina are too much for me - too frilly
Tina is beautiful

NeesAndToes · 13/02/2022 09:39

Love it

driftcompatible · 13/02/2022 06:56

No. Tina is in her 40s, drinks gin, posts Facebook memes like 'Live, Laugh, Love'.

DramaAlpaca · 12/02/2022 23:09

It's awful, sorry.

It's also quite insubstantial as a name and I think something it's derived from on the bc would be better.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 12/02/2022 23:07

I really dislike it sorry, despite knowing a couple of fab ones. it’s really wet and nothingy, names like Christina and Valentina are lovely and could be shortened.

Ikeameatballs · 12/02/2022 22:58

I like it but I wouldn’t use it as a stand alone name.

Christina
Valentina
Martina

DoodleBelle · 12/02/2022 22:57

I think it’s awful sorry

WeasilyPleased · 12/02/2022 22:55

Who trod in the tuna?
Like a pp I prefer Nina.

GeneLovesJezebel · 12/02/2022 21:52

I like Tina.

SallyWD · 12/02/2022 21:51

I like Christina with Tina as a nn.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 12/02/2022 21:38

Tuna..?!!
What a fishy turn the tread has taken!!
Grin

Saisong · 12/02/2022 21:36

I prefer Nina, it works better as a standalone name.

Natassia91 · 12/02/2022 21:33

Tina is swt and can be used on its own. But you could also use a longer official name like Valentina and still use Tina as a nickname.

PuppyMonkey · 12/02/2022 20:10

Or even use Tina as a nickname as tuna would be a bit strange.Grin

happystory · 12/02/2022 20:10

Not tuna 😂

SerendipitySunshine · 12/02/2022 20:10

Better to use a longer name on birth certificate and Tina for short - Christina, Martina etc

PuppyMonkey · 12/02/2022 20:09

Could you try something more exciting like Valentina and then use tuna as a nickname?
