it's pretty. Christina is nice if you want a longer name. Valentina is too frilly for me. I know several Christinas and Cristinas, and the ones who go by Tina are definitely middle class and intelligent

Ignoranceisbliss44 · 09/08/2022 08:23

If I went on the sound of the name alone and not the associations I have with it, I would say yes it's a lovely name.

However I can only visualise the menacing girl from 1992 standing over me with a hot metal rod trying to burn my hand in a science lesson. I can still see her eyes.

If I met a baby Tina though it would no doubt rid me of that horrible image.

RaininSummer · 08/08/2022 23:29

All the Tinas I know are now almost 60. There were about 5 in my year at school. Not an easy name to abbreviate but unfortunately still do to 'Teen'. Don't dislike it though

User6761 · 08/08/2022 23:28

My friend is a Tina. It was ages before I found out she is actually a Christina! But I think it's fine as a standalone name.

StarDolphins · 08/08/2022 22:56

I think Tina is in the Dawn, Wendy, Denise territory- not modern but not old & I’m not keen.

Valentina is really lovely though😃

maddy68 · 08/08/2022 22:52

One of my bff's is called Tina. And she is lovely. Go for it

Beetlewings · 08/08/2022 22:48

"Tina! come get your ham"

pinklavenders · 08/08/2022 22:47

Tina is so refreshing that n this sea of Evies, Ellies and Izzies...! I like it!

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/08/2022 22:45

It's very 70s barmaid. If you like it just use it as short for Christina or something, so she can dump it if she wants.

MamaC89 · 08/08/2022 21:57

Did you end up using the name Tina?

ozzyfroggy · 16/02/2022 21:33

I love Tina! Sparkly, easy to spell, works internationally. What's not to love? It's pretty Grin

TooManyQuavers · 16/02/2022 17:17

So yes use Tina if you fancy it, it's a darling little name.

TooManyQuavers · 16/02/2022 17:16

Tina is sweet. Christina is quite dated in America but would be chic and lovely on a European. I say this as I really like Christina but DH is American and has vetoed it.

Kanaloa · 14/02/2022 21:29

@17caterpillars1mouse

I'm not a fan tbh, it sounds a bit dated and a bit lower class, if that bothers you

I do like Christina though and could get behind Martina too at a push, both could use NN Tina but would give her other options

‘A bit lower class?’ Please do clue us in to the lovely acceptable middle class names that are superior to a normal name like Tina.
groovergirl · 14/02/2022 03:37

It’s old fashioned and quite aging-barmaid-down-on-her-luck
Grin With a pack-a-day habit, peroxide hair and a layabout hubby.

Tina by itself is a bit flimsy. It's better when short for something interesting.

mathanxiety · 14/02/2022 03:23

I love Rita too, and Tina.

I also love Kay.

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/02/2022 01:33

I like Tina, but then I also love Rita

Caramelcap · 13/02/2022 22:16

Not a fan, sorry. Kristina maybe?

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/02/2022 20:14

It’s old fashioned and quite aging-barmaid-down-on-her-luck
