Hi All,

Our DS will be named Asterios due to strong family reasons. Obviously, we are not originally from the Uk and worried if the name will be ok for this country.

I opened another thread asking if Aster would be a nice nn for a boy and it didn’t go well… most said it’s flower and a girls name.

Sooo… back to zero!

Should we just call him Asterios which will be his official name anyway or shorten it?

How does Asterios sound to British people? Too weird? Too long?

Would you shorten it and if yes to what?

I like Aster as a name for a boy.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/02/2022 10:33

Spumante?

Anotherhill · 12/02/2022 10:32

Asti?

Rio would be a good nickname for the U.K.

I quite like Aster for a boy 🤷🏻‍♀️ then again I quite like asterios too. If you like the name, and it has family reasons, then go for it. It's a nice name and people who know your ds will get used to it as it becomes part of him.

*I mean, call him Asterios on the birth certificate, but you could use Rio or Terry as a nickname.

ThirdElephant · 12/02/2022 10:19

Or Terry?

ThirdElephant · 12/02/2022 10:18

Rio? That's a boy's name.

Asterois sounds like the latest tech company disruptor. Or a mobile phone company. I like it, but it does have that association
