Too similar for siblings?

Expecting baby number 3 and not finding out the gender.

I have a DS called Arthur and a DD called Emilia.

I really love the name Ella for a little girl but people have mentioned that it could be a bit similar to Emilia? What do you think?

Both lovely names and not too similar…only problem I can see is they will have the same initials …but not a third world problem!

DoodleBelle · 11/02/2022 12:44

I actually don’t think they are too similar at all!

Yika · 11/02/2022 12:42

They are quite similar but the main sound is different - 'eh' vs the 'ee' sound in Emilia so I don't think it would be confusing.

that’s not similar at all!!

Gardeningcreature · 11/02/2022 07:14

I don't think they are too similar.
If also just use Ella absolutely no point calling her a name you have no intention of using. Besides all the other names start with a different letter so don't do that.

FrecklesMalone · 11/02/2022 07:11

Don't do it. Two mine have similar names it's a nightmare. Hard enough to remember what they are called at the best of times. Grin

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/02/2022 07:08

Bit too similar yes

If you were thinking of Arabella/Isabella then Isadora, Seraphina, Theodora, Leonora, Cordelia, Cecilia, Rosaria, Octavia might be alternatives - or Annabel or Christabel with Anna or Christy as nn

GoldenGorilla · 11/02/2022 07:00

Similar. Obv.

GoldenGorilla · 11/02/2022 07:00

Too solair

urbanbuddha · 11/02/2022 02:41

Too similar.

crabette · 10/02/2022 23:56

I like it OP and think it sounds different enough to Emilia. My test for this is normally if you're shouting upstairs to one of them, do the names sound similar enough that they might mishear / be confused? I don't think they are in this case, so crack on!

LethargicActress · 10/02/2022 22:09

If you like Izzy as a NN you could encourage that for Isabella.

dogaibu · 10/02/2022 21:58

When you say Emilia and Ella together it's doesn't break into words it's just like Emilianella

Mumofgirls2017 · 10/02/2022 21:52

Too similar for me. I’d aim for different initials if possible.

Loopytiles · 10/02/2022 19:43

Also - kind of - a mix between Emilia and arthur! Not great for DC3

Loopytiles · 10/02/2022 19:42

Too similar

Meandthesky · 10/02/2022 19:41

Ella and Emilia are definitely too similar for me sorry

I like Isabella but I would use Izzy rather than Ella

mum1993 · 10/02/2022 18:40

@Pamlar it’s such a beautiful name ❤️

I have a teenage Ella. We still get compliments on her name.
I also love Gabriella which could be shortened

Kanaloa · 10/02/2022 17:18

They are a bit similar to me. Not terrible and awful together like if they were siblings called Georgia and George, but just a bit too samey. Both nice names though.

BuritoCat · 10/02/2022 17:17

I have a Harry and a Henry, don't do it op. Pick another name.

RedCandyApple · 10/02/2022 17:16

I wouldn’t use it

PatchworkElmer · 10/02/2022 17:11

They’re too similar IMO- sorry.

cushioncovers · 10/02/2022 17:03
