DH has suggested this name this morning, he loves it. What do you guys think?

Would probably pair with a one syllable middle name, maybe Hope or Joy.

It's beautiful & different too, you probably won't get one in the same class!

FelicityBob · 09/02/2022 10:50

There definitely is. Vivienne has emphasis on the last syllable which is pronounced enn

toastiee · 09/02/2022 08:23

So would you say there's a pronunciation difference between Vivien and Vivienne? @VanillaAndOrange

UserBot9to5 · 08/02/2022 22:10

Love it. I prefer Vivien too.

FelicityBob · 08/02/2022 22:09

I also thought of pretty woman straight away

VanillaAndOrange · 08/02/2022 21:55

I would spell it Vivien if you don't want the last syllable to be emphasised. Vivi is a lovely short form.

riotlady · 08/02/2022 19:50

I would say it Viv-ee-ehn

OopsadayZ · 08/02/2022 19:35

Sorry I don't like it. Reminds me of The Young Ones.

LondonReturner · 08/02/2022 19:29

I like it, but only when it's pronounced à la française, so Vi-vee-enn. (Excuse my crap quasi phonics.)

Pronounced the English way, I just think of the character from The Young Ones! Showing my age.

QueenofDestruction · 08/02/2022 19:13

I would pronounced it Vuh vee n

Thedogscollar · 08/02/2022 18:32

Always liked this name. So pretty

PurBal · 07/02/2022 11:38

Love it

toastiee · 07/02/2022 11:37

Do you say ViviEN or ViviUHN? Seems quite a slight subtle difference but distinguishable. DH is saying ViviUHN for the Vivienne spelling...?

It's quite nice. I do prefer the more simple English spelling Vivien though, it's less frilly.

Betsyboo87 · 05/02/2022 13:26

I have a friend who is Vivienne and called Vivi. I do like it but I think of Pretty Woman every time I hear it.

Powerpotpie · 05/02/2022 13:25

Viv is

Snoopsnoggysnog · 05/02/2022 13:24

I don’t mind it but I much prefer Genevieve (nn Evie) or even Adrienne?

Powerpotpie · 05/02/2022 13:24

Viv good is very cool! I love the name Vivienne.

SisterAgatha · 05/02/2022 13:22

Oh it’s lovely! I feel like this about Genevieve as well. Beautiful

PragmaticWench · 05/02/2022 13:20

Adore it. She could be Vivi or Veni.

toastiee · 05/02/2022 13:18

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I love it more the more I say it. Slightly worried she will get called Viv all the time - can't decide if that's cool.

We would call her Vivi at home though.

I know one who is nearing 80, known her about 45 years and if you think of Hyacinth Bucket you're pretty much there. I think it's harsh sounding but if you like it, go for it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/02/2022 12:03

I do like it, it’s very vivacious!

And I like the French spelling in this case - probably because it differentiates it from the masculine form (which makes me think of Vivian the young ones..)

tearinghairout · 04/02/2022 20:47

I like it. Also like Vivien but lots of women of a certain age were called after Vivien Leigh. But there is also that Vivien was a fairy - girlfriend of Merlin the magician, which is pretty cool.

Snowiscold · 04/02/2022 20:41

No. Just spell it Vivien. No need to stick extra letters on the end - unless you’re French.
