Both stunning names, but I prefer Reya.

Snowiscold · 03/02/2022 18:18

Esme is fine, as an anglicised name. It’s an old spelling. Esmé is completely wrong. Esmée would be OK.

Ceramide · 03/02/2022 17:42

Esme

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 03/02/2022 15:13

Esme very much exists as a name as its current popularity will attest. You may think it's a bastardisation but that's a different matter.

Blubells · 03/02/2022 15:07

Sorry 'is'

Blubells · 03/02/2022 15:07

Esmé is a masculine ending, with the single e acute.

Esmée you s the feminine version.

Esme doesn't really exist as a name, unless possibly short for Esmeralda?

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 03/02/2022 14:21

Reya

Hopitihop · 03/02/2022 14:20

Esme sounds Turkish. Do you have that origins?

Reya is better but not amazing.

seasunshine22 · 02/02/2022 20:32

Love both but I think I slightly prefer Reya

Snowiscold · 02/02/2022 20:31

Esmé is a masculine ending, with the single e acute. Esme is OK, though. So it would have to be Reya. Can’t say I’m keen, though.

Luckyelephant1 · 02/02/2022 20:30

Reya but I would spell it Raya if you want the 'ay' sound. Or if you want the 'eee' sound then Riya.

mumpea · 02/02/2022 20:28

Reya

DepthOfTheAbyss · 02/02/2022 20:27

Reya. It’s a beautiful name.

Kitkat151 · 02/02/2022 20:19

Esme

Shmithecat2 · 02/02/2022 20:00

Reya - assuming it's pronounced ray-ah.

StopForAMinute · 02/02/2022 19:42

Reya

aibutohavethisusername · 02/02/2022 19:32

Esme

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 02/02/2022 19:28

I agree that Esme is overused at the moment. I quite like Reya, but not sure if it’s pronounced ray ah (my assumption) or ree ah. If the latter then a different spelling might be better. I prefer the ray ah pronunciation.

thebigpurpleone · 02/02/2022 19:27

@Blubells

Èsme Shock
Why are you spelling it like that?
Luredbyapomegranate · 02/02/2022 19:26

Esme, it’s nice, if overused

Reya sounds like a 70s American barmaid disappointed by life, or alternatively someone who changed their name after spending too long in an ashram

Blubells · 02/02/2022 15:34

Èsme Shock

Lockdownbear · 02/02/2022 15:28

Both good names but slight preference for Èsme

Hightemp · 02/02/2022 15:27

Esme

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 02/02/2022 15:00

@TheVanguardSix

Rhea… with this spelling.
isn't this pronounced ree-a?
StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 02/02/2022 14:57

Reya. It has more zhuzzh.
