I like Alba.

Snowiscold · 01/02/2022 21:19

I like Alba. I don’t like Indie at all.

midsomermurderess · 01/02/2022 19:59

But Ailbhe isn't.

MaggieFS · 01/02/2022 19:57

Alba. I think it goes better with Willow and I love that it has Spanish and Scottish connections.

I'd choose Indigo over Indie. Don't think either go as well with Willow though.

@midsomermurderess

I like Alba. I also like Ailbhe (pn. Alva), but outside of Scotland that might cause consternation.
I'm pretty sure Ailbhe is Irish, I know one, called Alva for spelling purposes.

@MazzleDazzle

Maple? As in Maple Syrup? Or do you mean Mable?
I meant Maple as in the tree but maybe not now you link it to syrup.
WaitinginVain · 01/02/2022 19:05

Alba's beautiful.
Really dislike Indie.

orio · 01/02/2022 18:56

Indie is awful! Definitely Alba.

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/02/2022 18:56

Congratulations
Alba
Although I like Adela, Aphra, Astra and Aster a bit better.

Indie is shaping up to be the Tracy of the 2020s.

MazzleDazzle · 01/02/2022 18:45

Maple? As in Maple Syrup? Or do you mean Mable?

Lockdownbear · 01/02/2022 17:54

I keep coming back to this, she deserves not to be short changed Willow is a great name I absolutely love it.

Willow & Rowan
Willow & Maple
Willow & Fern
Willow & Heather.

I love Rose too Willow & Rose would be a great combo too pity you've already used it

momtoboys · 01/02/2022 17:45

Alba reminds me of melba which reminds me of dried cracker things. I think Indie is cute (trendy, but cute)

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 01/02/2022 17:40

Alba, definitely dont like indie, but do like India.

mizzo · 01/02/2022 17:37

Congratulations though. Willow is beautiful, her new little sister deserves something equally beautiful.

mizzo · 01/02/2022 17:35

I really liked Alba but DH said it would be like calling DC Amstrad or Cymru which put me off a bit.

Indie feels unfinished. It's a cool nickname but I wouldn't want to be solely called Indie as a grown woman.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 01/02/2022 16:48

Neither, they're both bloody awful

Viviennemary · 01/02/2022 16:47

Both dire. But Alba is the worst one.

RuthW · 01/02/2022 16:46

Neither but I like India shortened to Indie.

Alba is a cassette brand.

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 01/02/2022 16:42

Neither - I thought of the Spanish name before the Scottish connection but now that people have raised it I do think it would be weird. And Indie isn’t enough of a name for me.

Dixiechickonhols · 01/02/2022 16:42

One of the sisters who owns Finch bakery (they have a book/cake shop on instagram) has an Alba Pixie. I think it's nice, easy to spell and say. She's just had a new baby Inka. Her sister recently had a Wren (girl).
I do know the 80s electonic connection but it's not such a strong brand like Samsung etc.
I think it goes well with your other little girls name.
Not keen on Indie, nick namey and makes me think of Indiana Jones.

MajorCarolDanvers · 01/02/2022 16:32

Are you Scottish?

TitoMojito · 01/02/2022 16:21

Saor Alba! Alba gu brath!

But yeah, don’t call your child Scotland. Indie is lovely. Or Indy.

troppibambini6 · 01/02/2022 16:15

Alba is the correct way to say it in Italian.
It translates as Dawn.
I personally prefer Indie.
