Iris

I prefer Iris.

Ada sounds harsh.

Both very beautiful names. Iris is my favourite (and is what my last baby would have been if he were a DD) but I love Ada too. It is very popular now with the Peaky Blinders connection but that wouldn’t necessarily bother me.

I have just had a grand daughter called Ada!
But Iris was on my short list for my own DD.

ThreeBalloons · 30/01/2022 14:27

They’re both v popular - Ada more so than Iris but Iris is one of those names that’s suddenly everywhere (Boris’s daughter has it for a middle I think) so actually I’d go Ada

LeQuern · 30/01/2022 14:26

Iris.

I really really dislike the name Ada (with apologies to a distant relative).

Twizbe · 30/01/2022 14:25

I like both. I'd wait now until baby is here and see which one fits her best.

Peachandpearl · 30/01/2022 14:23

Iris. I do like the name Ada too but it has become very popular so I guess it depends if that bothers you or not. Personally I have given my DC quite popular names just because I liked the names, but I know it bothers some people.

BunnyRuddington · 30/01/2022 14:19

Ada.

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 30/01/2022 13:58

I prefer Iris.

With Ada it can depend where you're from. Here in NI it's pronounced almost like E-id-a and sounds quite harsh. The pronunciation Eh-da sounds lovely though.

I prefer Iris. I love that in Greek mythology Iris was the goddess of the rainbow.
