Hi

We have a little boy and are expecting a girl shortly. We have had 5 losses and some of my favourite names are now linked to sad time.

My husband and I can’t agree on anything! Suggestions please? I’m worried some of my ideas are too common or not full names and therefore may be unpopular once the child is an adult!

Thanks

Fern
Ruth
Jenny
Alice
Kitty
Cora
Niamh
Eliza
Indy
Isadora
Ren
Izzy
Eleanor

Fern - very wispy, not great if your daughter is a rugby player
Ruth - great classic name, lasts through a whole lifetime
Jenny - sweet, old fashioned
Alice - lovely classic name, lasts a whole lifetime
Kitty - lovely, great for youth and old age
Cora - faddish
Niamh - lovely
Eliza - lovely
Indy - not great imo. Fine for a ten year old but not at 45.
Isadora - beautiful, unusual.
Ren - 'and Stimpy'
Izzy - a nickname for Isabel? Or Isadora? If no, then no.
Eleanor - very common, lots of Ellies around.

Like:
Ruth
Jenny
Alice
Kitty
Niamh
Eliza
Isadora

Suggestions:
Beatrix
Hazel
Elowen
Cleo
Zoe
Mabel

Fern- ok but reminds me fern britton
Ruth- dated
Jenny- dated
Alice - nice and fairly classic
Kitty - nice as nn for Catherine or similar
Cora- like, it’s possible it will date in future but don’t think in a terrible way
Niamh- meh
Eliza - love
Indy - no
Isadora - love this and since not too popular hopefully won’t date
Ren- prefer Wren and like but will probably date
Izzy - short for Isabel
Eleanor- ok, might date but not soon and not in a bad way. It’s probably the Jennifer of the 00’s/10’s or so

I absolutely love Kitty, Cora and Indy.

Normando91 · 29/01/2022 23:07

Eliza and Cora are lovely.

If I have a girl, I love the names Aubree, Wren and Nora x

lemondrop21 · 29/01/2022 22:58

My baby is Wren. I love it so much and we get a lot of compliments on it 🥰

NuffSaidSam · 29/01/2022 22:53

You could try and find a full name you like to go with your nicknames and then use both?

You could have Isadora nn Izzy, for example.

New30 · 29/01/2022 22:43

Flora is nice @AdaColeman

That’s how I feel on Izzy, Ren and Indy and unfortunately my husband is from the ‘not giving a name we won’t use’ brigade! Nice suggestions thank you

I like Fern Ruth Alice and Kitty very much.

Ren Indy and Izzy aren’t very appealing.

Names with a similar vibe to your list….
Daisy
Flora
Manon
Stella
Lydia

NuffSaidSam · 29/01/2022 22:40

I think it's a lovely list.

I like Alice, Kitty, Cora, Niamh, Eliza and Eleanor.

I like Indy, Ren and Izzy as nicknames, but I wouldn't use any of them as standalone names.

Less keen on Fern, Ruth, Jenny and Isadora

Other suggestions:

Penelope
Margot
Coralie
Louisa
Clara
Rowan
Felicity
