Help! Baby girls names

Hi

We have a little boy and are expecting a girl shortly. We have had 5 losses and some of my favourite names are now linked to sad time.

My husband and I can’t agree on anything! Suggestions please? I’m worried some of my ideas are too common or not full names and therefore may be unpopular once the child is an adult!

Thanks

Fern
Ruth
Jenny
Alice
Kitty
Cora
Niamh
Eliza
Indy
Isadora
Ren
Izzy
Eleanor

I’m struggling with girls names as well, I like most of your list especially Alice and Eliza. I wouldn’t worry too much about popularity, you could name her Spudella and inevitably bump into another Spudella 3 days later, it’s just Sod’s law.

bxbynxmelxver4 · 05/02/2022 03:17

I like Alice, Cora, Eliza, and Eleanor

RestingStitchFace · 31/01/2022 19:00

Fern - OK
Ruth - OK
Jenny - dislike
Alice - Love
Kitty - Love
Cora - dislike
Niamh - Ok
Eliza - OK
Indy - isn't this a boy's name?
Isadora - a bit much for me
Ren - don't you mean 'Wren', after the bird?
Izzy - dislike.
Eleanor -like

lazylockdowner · 31/01/2022 18:36

I love Cora, Alice and Elenor (pn Ellen-Na) from your list

KirstenBlest · 31/01/2022 18:11

Fern - with Ferne and Fearne might be more popular than it seems. I like the Fern spelling but not the others
Ruth - like
Jenny - Jennifer is nice
Alice - classic but not unusual
Kitty - like
Cora - not keen but Cara is nice
Niamh - don't like the Neev (mis)pronunciation but otherwise nice. Too similar to Eve and the Eva/Ava/Ivy type names
Eliza - not keen
Indy - no
Isadora - not keen. Another Izzy
Ren - awful
Izzy - no
Eleanor - classic but I'm not keen. yet another Ellie

Oli5 · 31/01/2022 11:56

New30 · 31/01/2022 11:21

I like Ruth, Jenny, Alice and Eliza from your list.

Second the idea of "Zoe" (life) - or maybe Lucy (light) or Iris (rainbow)?

Pleaseuniverseplease · 31/01/2022 10:59

Alice and Eliza are my favourites.

Oli5 · 31/01/2022 10:56

I love Ruth nickname Ru
Fern is gorgeous and love Eleanor but I would call her nelly!

ozzyfroggy · 30/01/2022 22:57

I like Jenny/Jennifer from list.

Zoe is a great suggestion as it means life. Flora is cool too.

In the same vibe as your list I like Jane and Marianne.

Fearnyleaves · 30/01/2022 14:59

Fern
Alice
Cora

mumofEandE · 30/01/2022 14:36

Fern - irrationally I prefer the spelling Ferne or Fearne
Ruth no
Jenny no
Alice ok
Kitty Ok
Cora ok
Niamh no
Eliza Yes
Indy Ok as a nn
Isadora No
Ren is this a name?
Izzy Ok as a nn
Eleanor ok but I don't like Ellie as a nn

3peassuit · 30/01/2022 14:25

Some lovely names on your list. My favourites are Jenny and Eleanor.

applesandpearz · 30/01/2022 14:21

I do love most of your name- the classics!
Alice & Eliza. If they're popular, it's often for a reason.

Others:

Lucy
Lydia
Jane
Kate
Florence
Emily
Anna

New30 · 30/01/2022 13:52

@Yika yes something simple would suit us!

whattodo2019 · 30/01/2022 13:16

Wren not Ren
Isadora
Jenny- very sweet and I actually like Jennifer too
Eliza

Yika · 30/01/2022 13:06

I like Fern, Ruth and Jenny, I like the simplicity of them.

What about
Jane
Faye
Liza

New30 · 30/01/2022 12:29

Lucy is nice

I really like Eleanor, Isadora and Ruth from your list.

I think Eliza is quite popular atm - not Olivia/Ava popular but 'popping up all over the place' popular. And I think will prob appear in retrospect as a strongly 'late 2010s/early 2020s' name. In case that matters to you.

I would suggest Cara, Lucy, Naomi, Marina.

New30 · 30/01/2022 11:59

I was really worried Eliza was too common?

@Luredbyapomegranate Genevieve is an interesting one!

OP posts:
Theoldwoman · 30/01/2022 11:41

I love Alice and Eliza

Violetandpurple · 30/01/2022 11:28

I have an Eliza. She is beautiful, bright blue eyes beautiful long hair with a heart of gold. Always get compliments on her name and she's the only one in her school.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/01/2022 09:30

Nice list - I’d go for Jennifer/Genevieve nn Jenny or Isadora

Other thoughts - Stella, Zoe, Alicia (Ah-liss-ee-ah) Susannah, Ffion (fee-on), Caitlin, Catlin, Esther, Serena, Adela, Louisa, Louella, Edith, Emma, Caroline, Annabeth, Jocelyn

Fern - ok, but getting popular
Ruth - the ugliest name, like a dog barking (sorry..)
Jenny - lovely if short for Jennifer
Alice - nice but overused
Kitty - Ok short for Katherine, otherwise babyish
Cora - OK, quite popular
Niamh - OK, quite popular
Eliza - nice, very popular
Indy - no, it’s… just not a name, will be the Tracy of the 2020s
Isadora - lovely, nice change from Isabel
Ren - I think you mean Wren?? Ok but massive spike in popularity and will date really fast. Robin a bit more classic
Izzy - only as a nn
Eleanor - lovely, but very popular
