I have started a new thread as was worried people would miss the update! With a few weeks to go we are still undecided on baby girls name! Big bothers Louis,Jacob and Harry. What are peoples views on the following particularly Martha would it be shortened to Mart??

Martha Rose
Sophia Grace
Matilda Mae
Amelie (Milly) Louise
Evie Grace/Rose

But apart from the 5 letter thing all your choices are nice except Mae. Mae West! Use May instead!

Lalliella · 03/02/2022 08:58

I’m very sorry but I’m a bit nerdy and like patterns so I think you should have a 5 letter name! I love your boys’ names, they’re all traditional strong names. How about Emily?

IVflytrap · 02/02/2022 22:32

I like Martha and have never heard of Mart as a shortening. Unless you're pronouncing it Marta, which a lot of other languages do, I think Marth is most likely. Mattie as a nickname is quite nice, as someone else mentioned.

For a middle name, how about one of the first names you don't end up using? Martha Sophie, Martha Amelie and Martha Evie all sound nice to me.

Or else a family name or other name that is important to you?

PinkSyCo · 02/02/2022 22:32

Your 3 boys have the same names as my 3 grandsons! I personally don’t like the name Martha though. Sophia Rose is a beautiful name and I quite like Matilda (Tilly) too.

bestguesstimate · 02/02/2022 22:23

Martha is the best of the bunch! There’s a young American Olympic weightlifter called Martha Rodgers who goes by Mattie!

Buttercup54321 · 02/02/2022 21:54

Sophia Elizabeth

Lou857 · 31/01/2022 14:04

Do you mind me asking what your daughter is named l?

My dd is the only girl after three boys (and two of your boys share names with mine). She is the only one with two middle names since there will be no more after her but both are significant (to us) family names. Have a cast through both sides to see what might sit well with Martha and may come with their own stories or history.

Isaisa · 31/01/2022 11:15

I love Martha Rose

ThrobbingToothacheOfTheMind · 30/01/2022 18:04

I only like Amelie out of those first names and I really don't like any of those middle names.
Elise is nicer than Louise but "Amelie Elise" doesn't go.

ashitghost · 30/01/2022 17:50

I think they’re all a bit meh. Is there nothing less common that you like?

user1493494961 · 28/01/2022 12:03

Martha Rose is lovely. I know a little Martha, whose name is not usually shortened, but occasionally has been Mattie.

Celynfour · 27/01/2022 21:29

My Martha is Martha Elizabeth
She gets called Marty by close family but only ever Martha by friends . I also call her Marta but I don’t think anyone else does .
She loves her name .
I also know a Martha Emily
I also like
Martha Kate
Martha Jane
Martha Violet
I would also avoid Mae Rose etc . Lovely names but just about everyone we know has one .
All 3 of my children have 2 middle names - all family names .

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 27/01/2022 21:14

Martha Rose ❤️

Herewegoagain84 · 27/01/2022 20:58

You’ve got some gorgeous names there, but please don’t use Rose/Grace/Mae as middle names. You may as well just use “girl” - they really are completely overused filler names.

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/01/2022 17:14

Martha is the best of your names.

I dislike the name Mae. May, Rose and Grace are filler middle names, so my vote is Martha Louise, but you could go for a different middle name.

I don't like Martha Matilda, but Matha Elizabeth or Martha Rosalind would be nice

Bluemamma · 27/01/2022 17:01

Anything but Martha.. sorry it’s an old lady’s name

Liv999 · 27/01/2022 14:03

Sophia and Amelie are both beautiful, dont like Martha find it a bit dowdy sorry

LaurensILikeYouALot · 27/01/2022 10:27

For middle names, can you look through your family tree for any names you love?

Or any special meaning you want to include? For example truth, bravery, beloved, etc.

Any number of syllables that work or don't work with your surname?

Crimesean · 27/01/2022 10:26

Don't call her Mart - she'll get "Mart the fart" at school.

Agree re: crap filler names - Mae in particular is a class marker she'd be better off without.

Martha is a lovely name, as is Matilda.

EIIa · 27/01/2022 10:24

Oh come on OP, throw in a daring wildcard like Beatrix or Ottoline - those middle
Names are the figure Louise and Sarah’s

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/01/2022 10:22

Congratulations!

I am not personally a fan of Martha, wouldn’t want to name someone after the biblical kitchen drudge and now also makes me think of the handmaid’s tale.

I like all the rest - probably Matilda the most, would spell May like that, and would give Eve as a full name

Matilda Grace is nice - or Matilda Eve is more unusual (i think 90% of girls must have Rose, Grace or May/Mai as a middle name)

Holly60 · 27/01/2022 08:03

I love Martha Rose. Or Martha Grace

Mumofgirls2017 · 27/01/2022 08:01

I like Martha and Matilda best and they go fine with your boys. I don’t think Martha will necessarily be shortened to Mart- in my experience it tends not to be shortened at all.

Roselilly36 · 27/01/2022 07:59

Many congrats OP, how exciting for you. I not keen on Martha, always makes me think of Arthur, if I am honest, sorry, I like Sophia but prefer Sophie, Laura, Amelia. I agree with other posters Grace & May as middle names are quite overused, I like Rose though, unless you have a family connection with those middle names of course. Good luck OP.
