Due my seccond baby in july. We are not finding out the gender so thought marley/Marlee would be a nice unisex name, me and partner both like it. We just cant decide on the spelling. First child is called Archie so part of me thinks the spelling Marlee would be nice to both have the E at the end

@Bluemamma

Marley is Joe Wicks’ sons name. Come guys aren’t you all English? :) it’s a lovely name but only for a boy. Not a girls name. Like I said before Marlee is just bonkers.
Oh well, if that barometer of class and taste has named his kid Marley…..😏 English? Hardly a trad English name, at least as a forename. A surname perhaps. It’s the sort of name an American might give their kid in the mistaken belief it sounds quaint and English. Awful.

Both atrocious.

thebigpurpleone · 26/01/2022 21:21

Marlee is chavtastic

tearinghairout · 26/01/2022 21:03

For me Marley is a Labrador's name but it's better than Marlee.

Of coure I was joking!

Spell it Marley or dont use it.

Marlee is a mash up, Mahleigh and complete and utter hash up!

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 26/01/2022 21:01

Marley out of the two. Marlie is another possibility. Although personally think its a dogs name 😆

gogohm · 26/01/2022 20:58

Big fans of a Christmas carol? Teasing when that's on the curriculum. Why not a proper name

lookforthesun · 26/01/2022 20:56

Mar-Leigh
Maarlei
Mali
MahLee
Maaarleigh

RuthW · 26/01/2022 20:53

Marley.

Underthestairsbears · 26/01/2022 20:15

Marley 100%

I have also encountered a Marlie and a Harleigh... Also Rylee and Ryleigh!!!

I think the phonetically spelt names have had their day now.

TheDuchessOfMN · 26/01/2022 20:06

Marley is quite nice. It made me think of A Christmas carol, even though I know that was his surname.

Marlee is dreadful (sorry) and if if I saw it written down, I would pronounce it as Mar-Lee (emphasis on the Lee) so it would probably cause confusion for him/her

joobleydoo · 26/01/2022 19:59

Marley, 100%!

There was a boy called Marley in my daughter's class and he was a seriously cool little person!

Marleigh Smile

thickthighs73 · 26/01/2022 19:47

Marley should remain with Bob end of

Bobbins36 · 26/01/2022 19:44

Marley. Marlee just looks like a really chavvy way of spelling Marley

celestebellman · 26/01/2022 19:41

Marley if these are the options.

Marlee makes me think of Jackson Brodie's daughter in Kate Atkinson's literary detective series, so a literary reference possibly, though I always wondered if the character would have picked such a made up name for his daughter, or if it was supposed to reflect the tastes of his ex wife.

Also not sure if it would be pronounced like Marley or more Mar- Lee.

HeronLanyon · 26/01/2022 19:39

Of the two Marley for reason above.
Fwiw it’s not a name I like nor do I think it sits well with Archie. But so what !
Congrats op.

ladygindiva · 26/01/2022 19:36

Marley definitely. I know a 10 year old boy Marley but I could see it work on a girl too.

Jossbow · 26/01/2022 19:29

Spell it the obvious way ......or Go all out

Mahleigh
