I really like hazel. Pretty but not frilly... But DC (don't know sex yet) is highly likely to be blonde and blue eyed... Does hazel need to have hazel eyes?! or at least brown hair? Am I just being silly?

No more than Asha needs to be dark or Rudy a redhead

My darling mum was Hazel. In fact she did have Hazel eyes. But the name was chosen before she was born, so it was just chance. She was the most lovely woman. Kind and generous and gentle and funny. It’s a super name. Not overused, classic and timeless.

CaramelWaferAndTea · 24/01/2022 19:21

Great name, and no, doesn't need to have hazel eyes - and you wouldn't know at birth!

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 24/01/2022 19:17

My hazel is a teenager and has got gorgeous blue eyes.

Nosetickle · 24/01/2022 19:15

Bluemamma · 24/01/2022 19:02

My mum was Hazel. She was blessed with the mist beautiful auburn hair.

RestingStitchFace · 22/01/2022 19:55

Roselilly36 · 22/01/2022 18:44

Gorgeous, a great choice.

ttcstinks · 22/01/2022 18:43

Lovely lovely name OP

There used to be a Hazel facebook or internet group about 10-15yrs ago, and that time, the youngest was about 5. I think there has been a huge resurgence of the name recently though. My great aunt Hazel (who would have been late 90's now) had stunning blue eyes and blonde hair. Suited her perfectly.

DockOTheBay · 22/01/2022 18:36

I love Hazel.
Definitely doesn't have to have Hazel eyes or brown hair (you wouldn't even know at birth, so nobody would ever have the name!)

Would you be surprised to meet a Jade without green eyes, a Scarlet without red hair?

duvetdayforeveryone · 22/01/2022 18:33

That was the name I was going to choose if I had a girl. It is such a powerful name :)

Gettingahead · 22/01/2022 18:30

Ok completely unanimous then 😂 perfect. To the top of the list she goes...

Gorgeous name!

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 22/01/2022 18:25

Lovely. And no she doesn’t need hazel eyes. I had it in my list (only had boys) and didn’t occur to me to link it to eye colour.

Sarahplane · 22/01/2022 18:24

My dd is called Hazel. She was blonde and blue eyes as a baby but her eyes did eventually turn Hazel but we still liked the name when she had blue eyes.

fandangoclem · 22/01/2022 18:24

Love it

RedCandyApple · 22/01/2022 18:23

The only hazel I know is blonde, I love the name

Lockdownbear · 22/01/2022 18:22

Babies tend to be born with blue eyes, and those that change colour have the most stunning eyes when they are changing around 4 mths.

So no Hazel doesn't need to have Hazel eyes / brown hair.
I also love Heather as s girls name.

alexdgr8 · 22/01/2022 18:20

you're being silly.
very few people connect the name hazel with any particular colour.
what colour eyes must violet have, or ruby,..?
go with it.
it's a fine name.
