Which name do you prefer? Old fashioned I know, but that’s the style we like. Opinions on these names?

Colin

DramaAlpaca · 16/01/2022 20:40

Blimey, the hate on here!

As for me, I quite like Colin and really like Neil.

Onlinedilema · 16/01/2022 20:03

Oh dear. Well you did ask. Both awful.
Colin is better.

midsomermurderess · 16/01/2022 19:59

I quite like them. I also like Colm. I have a Scottish friend who liked that for one of her boys but was told it would be pronounced 'column' in England do she didn't.

LottieDot · 16/01/2022 19:57

I've heard of Collins quite often on American boards, for both genders. It seems less dated somehow.

Loveisthere · 16/01/2022 19:49

Neither

Branleuse · 16/01/2022 19:45

Steve

Georgeskitchen · 16/01/2022 19:44

Neil but I prefer Niall

ttcstinks · 16/01/2022 19:44

Neither they're awful names

Spinderellaella · 16/01/2022 19:44

@pollygartertidywife

Neither unless you plan on giving birth to a 58 yr old heating engineer with a wife called Susan.
This made me lol. Thank you for the smile Smile
drigon · 16/01/2022 19:43

Gun to my head, Colin. It reminds me of lovely Colin from It's a Sin, but not a favourite at all. Col is nice, though.

SwedishEdith · 16/01/2022 19:43

Both awful but Neil if you have to have one.

DisforDarkChocolate · 16/01/2022 19:40

Neil, the baby. Only at a push.

Colin is a caterpillar.

celestebellman · 16/01/2022 19:38

One of my favourite, and also very cool, people is called Neil - most of his school friends are also called Neil.... guess there was a time it was pretty popular :)

I still think Neil is a good name though - short and to the point like many current popular boys' names. So I would go for that, will make a refreshing change and I don't think would be a target for bullies at all.

I don't mind Colin either, but prefer Neil. Or Niall.

ShowOfHands · 16/01/2022 19:38

@DefyingSanity

Surely there's only one correct answer here? Baby Neil.
Neil The Baby surely.
Jelly4444 · 16/01/2022 19:38

How about Colm? It's a little nicer than Colin I think.

MyQuietPlace · 16/01/2022 19:36

Neither, although Colin is the worst of the 2

GreenLunchBox · 16/01/2022 19:34

Both awful, but if pushed Colin pronounced the way Colin Powell pronounced his

WorriedGiraffe · 16/01/2022 19:34

If I met a baby Colin I’d think you were a bit strange for naming your kid after a caterpillar cake. I don’t like either for a baby, it’s not even traditional it’s just dated. Colin maybe marginally better, I do love the cake though so maybe I’m biased.

Somanysocks · 16/01/2022 19:31

Ah Colin was my first boyfriend in the early 80's. Neil was a horrible neighbours spoilt kid. So Colin for me I think.

Kitkat151 · 16/01/2022 19:31

Both really horrible names...fine if you want an older vibe...but definately not these🙄

Joolsin · 16/01/2022 19:24

I massively dislike both names, Neil is fractionally worse. Both beige/bland. And Niall is exactly the same as Neil imo.

DefyingSanity · 16/01/2022 19:09

Surely there's only one correct answer here? Baby Neil.

Colin or Neil?
OnaBegonia · 16/01/2022 18:38

I know quite a few dogs called Colin.
Surely you have other ideas.
Aww wee baby Colin 🙄

sixtiesbaby88 · 16/01/2022 18:25

I think Colin is ready for a comeback and you'll be ahead of the game!
