What do you think?

It's the only name we can both agree on. I love it. The surname is quite difficult so we wanted something simple for the first name

What are your first impressions?

I love it, we’d have used it for our youngest (now 21) and it went well with our Irish surname. There was a Liam living next door though who never missed a chance to hurt or upset our then 3 year old son and it put us off using it.

I love it. I think it's pretty timeless, I can imagine both a baby and an old man with it.

@Subulter, the downmarket/troublemaker bit is IMO to do with names being used because the names are trendy, and there being no, or only a tenuous, connection with the language or culture.

This a little bit but it is a nice name, and less popular than it was.

I have no strong feelings about it either way it feels a bit 'dated classic' to me (in Ireland), but maybe due a revival? but if you're in the UK, be aware that, based on responses on here, it seems to be associated with the downmarket and troublemaking. Make of that what you will.

I love it, it's cute and elegant at the same time, and I would say fairly timeless so it doesn't date. My nephew is a Liam, short for William.

You know it’s Irish? As in the Irish language? It translates as William.
