Grace, Olivia, Isabella - How many do you know?

How many little ones (under 5 or so) do you know called Grace, Olivia or Isabella?

I know they are all very popular names but I haven’t come across any in my DS’ nursery/nct/music classes. DS is 1.5 yo.

@lynntheyresexswappers Grace is a lovely name Smile and I can only think of one I knew at school and there are none in my workplace so I still think it’s a top contender for our little one.

I know 2 babies called Olivia. The 3 Grace's I know are all in their 20s. Don't know any called Isabella.

lynntheyresexswappers · 12/01/2022 14:33

I have a Grace, but she's known as Gracie, and is the only Grace in her primary school. I've never met another despite how popular (and dull Grin) it apparently is.

onedayoranother · 12/01/2022 14:13

No Graces but I know a few Olivias and plenty of variations on Isabel/Isabelle/Isabella from ages 0-18.

KirstenBlest · 12/01/2022 13:40

@Freddie456, look at royal names, biblical names, shakespearean names, names from literature, saint's names and names from mythology and you should have plenty to choose from

Freddie456 · 12/01/2022 13:22

@Outlyingtrout did you have a shortlist of unusual but classic names that you would be willing to share? I like the popular names but I do agree with posts that say it might be a bit of a pain always being one of a number in any environment.

2 Grace (age 3 & 40's)
2 Isabelle / Isabelle (age 11 & 40's)
0 Olivia (other than a friend of a friend's daughter so tenuous link, she's early 20's)

Outlyingtrout · 12/01/2022 13:17

Only one Grace and no Isobellas but LOADS of Olivias.

I've tried so hard to give mine names that are unusual but still classic. Not easy. I have one of the ridiculously popular 70s/80s names and have always been one of at least 2 or 3 with the same name in every class, every group, every workplace I've ever set foot in. It's an irritation.

liveforsummer · 12/01/2022 13:10

@wingingit33

Every girl has Grace/rose/May as a middle name. I'm a reception teacher and let's just say Olivia and Isabella have to always be known in class with their second initial.
Must be very area dependant we don't have any Isabellas in our school at all including the nursery classes
liveforsummer · 12/01/2022 13:08

My Isabella is 12, I only know one younger than her who is about 4 and I work in a school including in the nursery so come across a lot of names. There were 4 in her brownies though all bar her went to private schools which is how we didn't know them otherwise. I know 2 Grace who are 10 and 8. Plenty of Olivias of all ages

1224boom · 12/01/2022 13:01

None

Freddie456 · 12/01/2022 12:21

I also like Ophelia but am put off by it meaning ‘help’ and Hamlet…

Under 5’s

Olivia - 2
Isabella/Isabel/Isobelle - 5
Grace - 0 (but know plenty used as middle name)

EnglishMcSwedeFace · 12/01/2022 11:26

I know:
2 Olivias (NN Livvy and Via)
3 Isabella's (NN Izzy x2, Bella)
0 Graces

I love Mabel though and of the 4 it's the one I would pick.

Seriouslymole · 12/01/2022 11:06

Mabel is lovely, and far less used (although I know a couple of dogs called Mabel....maybe that doesn't help, sorry!)

RosesAndHellebores · 12/01/2022 08:04

They were popular and quite fresh names when my mid 20 somethings were born.

Clarissa76 · 12/01/2022 08:00

Feckin loads, especially Olivias and Isabellas.

CleanUpTime · 12/01/2022 07:57

In my dc class (5-6 yo)
2x isabella
2x olivia
1x grace

Peccary · 12/01/2022 07:55

@megletthesecond

red yep, my name is so common I'm still "Meglet X" at work. Common names are a pain.
I'm with you, I have the most common name for women my age. DD has a well known but not common name because of that
Peccary · 12/01/2022 07:54

DD is 4 and has multiple classmates with variations of Isabelle/a, Ella, Annabel etc. We only know one Olivia and one Grace though

MsTSwift · 11/01/2022 23:00

At one point a third of the girls in dds class were named a variant of the name Eve. It got terribly confusing. Very odd that people flock to the same few names.

FuggyPidding · 11/01/2022 22:33

1 Grace under 5.

2 Olivia, 0 Grace & 2 Isabella between 5 - 10.

Lots of Isobel's!

RedCandyApple · 11/01/2022 22:32

It’s school I would worry about, would hate my kids to be called Grace S or Olivia M or whatever all through school. I always think how annoying that must be
