Sylvie or Robyn

DP and I have whittled it down to two names for our little girl due in March. Which name do you prefer? I keep flitting between the two... DP is slightly more in the Robyn camp, but loves both. I THINK I'm slightly more in the Sylvie camp, but that might just be because I'm flitting that way today. I'm hoping she'll just come out and look like one of them!

DDs name is Maggie.. I think Robyn goes slightly better as they don't end with the same sound, but I think Maggie and Sylvie is OK too.

Robyn with a Y for a girl. It's my name and I love it. I never got anything personalised, but even if it was spelt with an i, I wouldn't have 😂

If my name was spelt with an i, I wouldn't like it anywhere near as much 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just can’t get on board with Robin/Robyn for a girl, especially the Y spelling which just looks really off to me.

Sylvie is lovely. A bit twee with Maggie maybe but much more the same style than Robyn.

I’m not too bothered with the unisex nature - in fact I quite like it! I know a little girl called Drew which I love, but our surname starts with a P. Can’t saddle a person with the name Drew P Grin.

I also agree that Robyn sounds more like a boys name. I think because it might get shorted to Rob or Robbie.

It is a classic and can't be compared to the name Robyn/Robin.
Btw I thought the male spelling was Robin and the female spelling Robyn.

Or other suggestions for a first name to go with green that says to you adventure loving, explorer type

Robin, spelt with an i. It goes well with Maggie and is a gorgeous name. Disclaimer - it's my eldest child's name. I spell it with an i as I just think it looks more authentic.

Sylvia is an OK if not very old fashioned name, and Sylvia is a decent abbreviation.

Robyn is quite masculine in my opinion, I know it's a male (Robin) or female (Robyn) name, but I would assume it were a boy if a parent were shouting it at the park...

I prefer Robin/Robyn but Sylvie is nice enough. I think Maggie & Robin sounds nice together.

Robyn is gorgeous and I much prefer the Y spelling for a girl. Purely my opinion but Sylvie’s a boring old lady to me and there’s a reason it hasn’t had a comeback. Grin

Not keen on Robyn though I like Robin but for a boy. Sylvie seems a bit more current and I actually think goes better with Maggie.

Robyn definitely gets my vote, it's one of my favourite girls names and relatively underused in the UK

I don't hate Sylvie but I don't love it either. I actually prefer Syvlia but not a massive fan of that either.

I was just thinking earlier today how Sylvia needs a comeback. I would use it as a middle name for my imaginary next baby (Vivienne Sylvia Rose, thanks for asking).
