Same with boys, you need longer, less abrupt names. 'Jude Jack' sounds ridiculous, like a double-barrelled first name e.g. 'John-Jo' etc. it would end up as 'Ju-Jack' because of the clashing consonants too. Julian would work better, or Julius.

Thomas works ok. How about Lucas?

lottiegarbanzo · 10/01/2022 22:00

Well your names are all lovely, so you're fine!

Though, I find Betsy a but twee and you can't have Charlotte Jack because of the consonant hitting consonant, so the 't' getting lost in a glottal stop. Whereas Anna, Daisy or Florence Jack are ok.

I like Marguerite as the full name for Daisy. Same prob with 't' but it's not as bad. How about Margot?

Florence nn Flossie would sound lovely.

Would you use Elizabeth nn Betsy? I do think you could do with longer names, preferably 3+ syllables, to go with a short surname. Somehow Florence is drawn out enough to sound long, whereas 'Anna Jack' is too snappy and sounds too much like Applejack.

Obvs any child must gain the nn Cracker at some point in their life.

These are my favourites from your selection:

Florence & Charlotte
Theo & Anna
Thomas & Charlotte
Thomas & Joseph (although I'm not convinced by Joseph Jack)... maybe Samuel instead?

Other suggestions:
Madeleine Jack
Emily Jack
Lydia Jack
Rosalie Jack
Violet Jack

Elliott Jack
Nicholas Jack
Christopher Jack

PattyPan · 10/01/2022 18:14

Definitely not Jude or Joseph with your surname.
Thomas and Theo for two boys, Theo and Charlotte for mixed, Charlotte and Florence for two girls.
Because your surname is so short and a bit nicknamey in itself, I don’t think Daisy and Betsy are strong enough names. Elizabeth would work though.

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/01/2022 18:09

Joanna Jack would be Jo Jack. a bit too Kojac

Jennifer Jack, Julia Jack or Juliet Jack are better

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 10/01/2022 17:57

I agree that some J names doing go with the surname, but some sound quite good to my ear.

Jude Jack - no
Joanna Jack -yes (as an example)

So basically long names are good, short ones less so.

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/01/2022 12:30

The J names don't really go with the surname.

Twins will be Name'n'Name a lot of the time

The elder of the two will be usually the first mentioned so give the younger twin a name that comes before the other twin's in the alphabet (Zoe & Choe not Chloe & Zoe) otherwise name them as if they were siblings not twins

Daisy - ok
Florence - ok
Betsy - ok
Charlotte - like
Anna - like. Anna Jack a bit like Anorak

Boy names
Jude - dislike
Noah- dislike
Charlie
Thomas or husband prefers Tommy - will be Tom, Tom Jack doesn't flow very well
Joseph - Joe Jack - no

  • dislike

I'd go for names that can't be shortened, something like Harry and Charlie. Daisy and Betsy , Florence and Charlotte, Charlie and Beatrice

babiesof2022 · 10/01/2022 09:05

I'm afraid I'm not keen on your boys names but at a push Jude

So daisy and Jude or Charlotte and Jude

babiesof2022 · 10/01/2022 09:04

Daisy and Charlotte for girls

Pineapples9087 · 09/01/2022 23:07

Girl/girl twins - Daisy and Anna

Boy/boy twins - Noah and Jude

Girl/boy twins - Daisy and Noah

Congratulations x

littlebilliie · 09/01/2022 22:17

I would go with a longer name I you have a short surname

Clementine Jack
Sebastian Jack

Gwendoline Jack
Harrison Jack

Mumofgirls2017 · 09/01/2022 22:17

I like Daisy or Betsy with Florence; and Charlotte and Anna go well together.

For boys Charlie and Thomas, Jude and Theo, Joseph and Thomas

Mixed I like Daisy and Jude or Florence and Joseph

Mum2Be36 · 09/01/2022 22:03

It must be so hard with twins, we’re struggling enough with one name! I think they are lovely names, Betsy would be my least favourite. I don’t think Jude or Anna sound right with your surname. Love all the others though x

LavenderRosemary · 09/01/2022 21:54

Congratulations!

My favourites from your list are Florence, Anna, Charlie and Theo. But they're all really lovely names.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/01/2022 21:42

Congratulations!

Charlotte and Florence Jack
Noah and Theo Jack
Florence and Theo Jack
Are the best combos I think - all nice

Daisy, Betsy and Charlie Jack sound like appliances and Anna Jack is too sharp. Jude, Joe or Tom Jack just sound daft - like double first names (Thomas / Tommy and Joseph will always be shortened).

Jack is a nice but quite challenging surname to match, I think you need softer sounding names of 2 or 3 syllables, avoiding a y end (unless the name is very soft), and nothing that would easily get shortened to a single syllable.

Maybe -
Miles, Nathan, Reuben, Laurence, Robert, Elliot, Elijah, Edward, Henry, Silas, Alistair, Alexander, Rufus, Barnaby/Barnabas (Barney), oliver, Lucas, Marcus, Owen, Hugo

Alice, Edith, Sophie, Louise, Chloe, Phoebe, Frances, Flora, Sarah, Constance, Clara, Emmeline, Caroline, Marianne, Meredith, Evelyn, Rachel, Sophia, Claudia, Eleanor

Alwayswonderedwhy · 09/01/2022 21:19

All combinations apart from Charlotte and Charlie would work. They're all lovely names.

ISmellBurnings · 09/01/2022 21:16

I like Anna out of your girls list. Daisy and Betsy are too twee and cutsey.

The ‘J’ names won’t go with ‘Jack’.

Love Noah and Theo from your boys list.

CoffeeRunner · 09/01/2022 21:04

I'm not sure I'd go for Anna Jack. Although Anna is a lovely name.

From your list I'd pick:

Daisy & Florence
Thomas & Joseph
Daisy & Thomas

BHX3000 · 09/01/2022 20:59

Charlotte and Anna
Anna and Thomas or Theo
Thomas and Noah

Spidey66 · 09/01/2022 20:52

Girls Anne? Girls names! I've outed my own name there!

Spidey66 · 09/01/2022 20:51

Ps I'd probably name Charlie Charles tbh.

Spidey66 · 09/01/2022 20:50

I like all the boys names but I don't think Jude or Joseph/Joe go to great with your surname.

I like Daisy, Charlotte and Anna from your girls Anne. Betsy is ok as a nn for Elizabeth. I don't hate Florence but I prefer the other names.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 09/01/2022 20:45

Reuben Jack
Reuben and Marianne Jack

Of your list - Betsy and Noah

wishing3 · 09/01/2022 20:41

I love Anna.

Nadiae · 09/01/2022 20:40

Anna and Theo.

Love Jude too but Jude Jack doesn’t really work.

Congratulations!!
