A friend had a New Year baby and she's calling him Kaiden according to the birth announcement. How would you pronounce it? I'm not sure if it's pronounced like Kyden or Kayden?

It doesn’t matter how it’s pronounced

Well it does matter to his friends and family Hmm

Blubells · 08/01/2022 12:43

Why don't you just ask her?

Kitkat151 · 07/01/2022 22:45

It doesn’t matter how it’s pronounced. It’s absolutely dreadful! It’s the Kevin, Shane and Clive of our time!

My dd has a Kaiden in her year at school pronounced Ky-den

Ikeabag · 07/01/2022 18:14

There was a game that came out maybe 10 years ago with a spirit character called Aidan, pronounced to rhyme with skydan. I prefer that pronuncuation but I'm fairly sure it would be constantly pronounced the 'kay' way. The game was American, I wonder whether it's more common in the US?

StopStartStop · 07/01/2022 17:46

I think I taught them...

RedCandyApple · 07/01/2022 16:42

Well known name everyone will know that’s Kay den like jay den

WeeFae · 07/01/2022 15:20

My neighbour has a son called this, she pronounces it Ky Den

Atla · 07/01/2022 15:15

Aidan with a K? So Kay-den

CandyLeBonBon · 07/01/2022 15:11

I read it as Ky-den (rhymes with sky) but recognise I might be in the minority here! Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/01/2022 15:10

Kai and Kay are different so honestly, who knows how she thinks it's pronounced.

I speak as someone who changed how I pronounced DD's name 5 days after birth. Not yoonique, just that there are two ways and I changed from the English to the French.

CombatBarbie · 07/01/2022 15:07

Kay-den

Ikeabag · 07/01/2022 14:59

I know it's probably Kay but whenever I read it I think it rhymes with sky. Kai on its own is pronounced that way I think.

TillyTopper · 07/01/2022 14:50

If you go to Google Translate and put enter Kaiden (in the English part) you can click on the speaker and hear it said. Kaiden

CinnamonCrumble · 07/01/2022 14:46

Thank you all. I thought that Kayden was more likely but I haven't encountered the name before so I wasn't sure.

Iamkmackered1979 · 07/01/2022 14:32

I have an aiden
I say it kay den but I suppose it also depends on your accent how it’s said. Never heard kaydun or one
Jayden is a similar one

notacooldad · 07/01/2022 14:31

Kay den
That's how the ones I know say their name.
