Primrose Adelaide

My husband and I are planning on trying for our 3rd child soon. We’re settled on a boys name and are leaning towards Primrose Adelaide [Lastname] if it’s a girl. We both love the name Primrose with the nicknames Prim and Posy. Adelaide would be in honor of my husband whose childhood nickname was Addy. We won’t be switching the order of the names or simply using the name Rose as we both hate it. Our son, our eldest, is Lochlan and our daughter is Elowyn- or Loch and Winnie/Wynn for short.
We were just wondering what others thought of the name.

Primrose is top of my list off most disliked names, and ‘Prim’ is just awful, can you imagine being a teenager called Primrose?

Adelaide is lovely.

kitcat15 · 01/01/2022 02:13

Not for me sorry....sounds too pretentious

Balthazaria · 01/01/2022 01:02

Please no. Sorry OP, I know an adult Primrose and it doesn't age well. They are stuck with a little girl's name and they aren't a dainty flower in adulthood. They cringe when they introduce themselves.

Rose works better. Or go with Adelaide Primrose if you must.

I just can't warm to the name Primrose, sounds a bit bovine...

and Prim is not a great nickname, it is such a negative characteristic to be associated with.

I think Adelaide is pretty - but if you have no connections to the city id prefer Adeline.

I love Primrose though not keen on Adelaide.
Adèle is prettier.

DemBonesDemBones · 01/01/2022 00:50

And one of your children has the same name as one of mine Grin

DemBonesDemBones · 01/01/2022 00:50

Absolutely beautiful!

StartupRepair · 01/01/2022 00:48

I like it.
Adelaide means 'nobility' from old German.

pinksquash13 · 01/01/2022 00:45

I like it. I like Prim too. Reminds me of the character from hunger games.

Yousexybugger · 01/01/2022 00:42

Ok but prim isn't a nice diminutive. The connotations are pursed-lipped and judgemental. Posy isn't particularly nice either. I've heard Rosie as a short form for primrose, or just the full name.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/01/2022 00:38

I like Primrose, not so keen on Prim.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2022 00:21

I love your other names but 'Prim"?

If you like Posy, what about Mariposa?

Mollymalone123 · 01/01/2022 00:18

I love it!

awesomekilick · 01/01/2022 00:17

Sounds like a ship

RuthW · 01/01/2022 00:12

It's absolutely beautiful. Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2022 00:10

Totally up to you, but I dislike the Prim bit of Primrose intensely. Posy is sweet but is usually short for Josephine.

The -laide bit of Adelaide means 'ugly' in French so that's a no from me, too.

Sorry, we just don't have the same taste in names.
