Primrose Adelaide

My husband and I are planning on trying for our 3rd child soon. We’re settled on a boys name and are leaning towards Primrose Adelaide [Lastname] if it’s a girl. We both love the name Primrose with the nicknames Prim and Posy. Adelaide would be in honor of my husband whose childhood nickname was Addy. We won’t be switching the order of the names or simply using the name Rose as we both hate it. Our son, our eldest, is Lochlan and our daughter is Elowyn- or Loch and Winnie/Wynn for short.
We were just wondering what others thought of the name.

It sounds like she arrived in the Fourth at Malory Towers, indulged by her governess and adored by Gwendolen Mary Lacey until it turns out daddy's bankrupt and she's actually on a scholarship. But she can sing! So all is redeemed.

The Adelaide doesn’t work as a middle name for Primrose - you would be better with Adela which is a lovely medieval origin name

DidgeDoolittle · 01/01/2022 10:32

I would hate to be called Primrose. I was an awkward child and sporty teenager. I am 5:7 and not remotely delicate. Having the burden of such a twee, delicate name would be unbearable.

MadeOfStarStuff · 01/01/2022 10:07

I like Posy and Adelaide but not Prim or Primrose

Prescottdanni123 · 01/01/2022 09:21

I really like it

Wisemensay · 01/01/2022 08:59

I think it's really pretty.

SuperbOwls · 01/01/2022 08:58

Wynn and Prim are a bit rhymey for me. Potentially very confusing when shouting up the stairs!

I would swap them round personally but each to their own

Nosnowthisyear · 01/01/2022 08:54

I don’t like either of them sorry and would hate to be called Primrose myself.

MintMatchmaker · 01/01/2022 08:54

Don’t like Primrose and I don’t think it goes with Adelaide.

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 01/01/2022 08:51

I don’t understand the love for Primrose, it’s not a name I like. Too twee. Especially Posy. It’s all a bit of a mouthful if I’m honest.

toastofthetown · 01/01/2022 08:45

I like it. Primrose is currently shooting up the charts at the moment if that bothers you. Prim and Posy are cute nicknames, and there’s always the option for the very conventional Rose if she prefers that.

FourTeaFallOut · 01/01/2022 07:35

It sounds like a nursing home.

ThorsLeftNut · 01/01/2022 07:34

Another that thinks it wouldn’t are well. After she’s turned 10/12 i don’t think it fits.
I also know an adult Primrose and she hates it and calls herself Rosie.

MimiDaisy11 · 01/01/2022 07:29

I like Rose, but Primrose is too much. I’d have hated it at school. Prim almost seems like an insult.

Porridgeislife · 01/01/2022 07:21

I like Primrose but the initial combo of P and A might not sit well with your surname. PAM, PAT, PAW, PAD etc

Bpickle1 · 01/01/2022 06:51

Sounds absolutely bloody ridiculous. Get a grip!

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 01/01/2022 05:43

It's bloody awful and pretentious

Flutterflybutterby · 01/01/2022 05:27

I like Primrose, but not paired with Adelaide. I think together they are a little much and do seem a bit like the name of a thing (like a ship, as a PP said, or a resort of some type) rather than the name of a person. I'd pair Primrose with something more classic and plain than Adelaide.

LawnFever · 01/01/2022 05:14

Rarely, not rate it!

LawnFever · 01/01/2022 05:14

It’s all a bit of a mouthful but I guess you’d rate it use the middle name day to day.

If you hate Rose then just remember you’ll have no control over how her name is shortened once she goes to school or is old enough to decide for herself what shortened version she prefers, it’s completely unreasonable to think you can control that forever.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 01/01/2022 04:12

I think the names are too much, together.
Too sweet sounding.

ouch321 · 01/01/2022 04:05

Unusual but not too keen myself

ThiagoSilvasToe · 01/01/2022 03:54

I like it. I think it works well with your other children's names too.

GemmaRuby · 01/01/2022 03:51

I really don’t like Primrose, it’s very twee. Posy is also very twee.
Seems quite a different genre from your other children’s names.

urbanbuddha · 01/01/2022 03:51

Primnose? Sorry, no. The next ten people that need to know your name introduce yourself as "Primnose".
Posy's okay.
