hi, i'm pregnant with a girl and i'm curious what others think about this. My mom passed away 2 months ago... she was my best friend and was so exited for her grand child. I have been thinking about naming my baby after her. Her name was Maureen. i don't know what other people think about this name. what do you think about it?
my due date happens to be on her birthday and i think that's so special. her birthday is May 4th so that could be special as well, to name her May. but her real name seems more special.. what do you think about it? :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry for your loss. I agree that your little girl should have her own first name whilst you use Maureen in the middle to honour your mum. I think short and sweet first names that are timeless/more modern pair best with Maureen. Some suggestions:

Lucy Maureen
Zoe Maureen
Alice Maureen
Isla Maureen
Emily Maureen
Calla Maureen
Elin Maureen
Heidi Maureen
Sara Maureen
Nia Maureen
Rosa Maureen
Sophie Maureen

I think it's a lovely name. Go for it Flowers

It’s a lovely name OP for either first or middle - May Maureen or Maya Maureen are both very nice too.

I’m so sorry for your loss Flowers

So sorry you lost your mum op. I think you should use Maureen as a middle name, a lovely way to honour your mum.

Sorry for your loss.

Personally I'd give your daughter her own first name and honour your mum by using her name as a middle name.

It's a lot to live up to being named after someone else and if she doesn't grow up to like her name you might see it as a personal attack on your mother.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would give your little girl her own first name and your Mum's name as a middle name.

I’m so sorry for your loss

It’s an old fashioned name, so have a think if you really like it as a first name, if not it would work well to honour your mum as a middle name

Peppermint81 · 30/12/2021 22:18

Perfect name. Old fashioned names are in

Warmduscher · 30/12/2021 22:17

Sorry for your loss, OP.

It is quite an old fashioned name and it hasn’t really had a resurgence so maybe something similar that would be more suitable for a child? Or did your mum have a middle name?

Onlinedilema · 30/12/2021 22:14

I think that's a lovely idea.

Manifestingbaby · 30/12/2021 22:13

I'm sorry for your loss. I think it's a beautiful name and would be very meaningful.
