What’s everyone thoughts on Marlow or Monty for our boy born 4 days ago? We’ve had awful trouble deciding on a name and it’s taken us this long to find a common ground on two.
His older sister is called mabelle. It wasn’t intentional to have them both with an M name it seems M names are what we like 🙈

And Marlow is nice too, plus a bit different.

BiscuitLover3678 · 30/12/2021 16:03

Monty makes me think of this very pompous rich boy I used to know who was the most entitled, racist piece of *** I’d ever met. Not that I’m biased or anything. Grin But yeah Miles feels like a much nicer, well rounded name.

Jtb5790 · 30/12/2021 13:14

If I had to choose from only those two, Monty. Miles is a similar vibe too.

Twinkleylight · 28/12/2021 01:22

Monty over Reggie which is just awful.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 27/12/2021 19:56

My step df's df was called Montgomery.. Monty. He was the nicest, kindest man I ever knew..
Reggie is a criminal..

memememe · 27/12/2021 19:54

What about Marley? I prefer monty over Marlowe but like Marley...

user1493494961 · 27/12/2021 18:57

Monty is OK, Marlow a bit downmarket.

inappropriateraspberry · 27/12/2021 10:22

Neither.

maryzx · 27/12/2021 10:17

Still Monty. Reggie makes me think of the Kray Twins.

Changethetoner · 27/12/2021 02:58

Robert.

DramaAlpaca · 27/12/2021 02:02

Monty is so much better than Reggie. Reggie is a thoroughly unappealing name.

TrashyPanda · 27/12/2021 00:46

If it’s between Monty and Reggie, then Monty every time.

Reggie always make me think of the horrible Kray twins.

BrunoJenkins · 27/12/2021 00:43

*think

Also Milo is similar too

AyeEee123 · 27/12/2021 00:43

Monty is fab, Reggie is awful.

BrunoJenkins · 27/12/2021 00:41

I prefer Monty. I like with Marlow you'd get people mishearing it as Arlo or Harlow (or Merlot Grin)

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 27/12/2021 00:15

I much prefer Monty to Reggie, I think Reggie would date more quickly.

If you don’t love either enough, maybe start again with the baby names book, now your baby is here?

Robyn789 · 26/12/2021 23:11

@WhatsWrongWithMyUsername

Have you got any closer to deciding OP?

I like them both, so I’m no help.

No unfortunately not. We seem to be going round in circles with his name. Think it’s between Monty and Reggie now. It’s really me holding us back. I’m just not sold on any boy names 😩 Monty and Reggie are my partners favourite names closely followed by marlow! I think I’ve looked on every baby name list and I just can’t find one I love for him.

Monty is really nice -have you considered Maxim- definitely one of my favourite boys name

maryzx · 26/12/2021 22:41

Of those two, Monty.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 26/12/2021 22:37

DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes · 26/12/2021 13:21

Marlow makes me think of Christopher Marlowe, who may have written Shakespeare’s works, may have been a spy and definitely died after a fellow drunken patron in a pub in Deptford stabbed him in the eye.

As for Monty, I have two main associations, neither of which I would want associated with my child. Please see illustrations.

If you like M names, what about Matthew, Milo, Max, Matteo?

Monty with Montgomery on BC as it gives options as an adult.

HacerSonarSusPasos · 26/12/2021 13:06

Neither, sorry!

Cindie943811A · 26/12/2021 13:01

Monty rather grows upon one so I’ll vote for that

FartnissEverbeans · 24/12/2021 20:24

Not Montgomery! Dear God no

Monty is nice enough but it’s a bit twee I feel?

Marlow is quite cool so I’d choose that
