Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dustandfluf · 24/12/2021 22:48

Oh please do not call your child Braelynn. It's awful!

dustandfluf · 24/12/2021 22:46

Delilah

Princessbelle7 · 24/12/2021 22:36

Which names from my list are dated?

OP posts:
Hohofortherobbers · 24/12/2021 22:20

Have you considered Clara?

mathanxiety · 24/12/2021 22:09

It's been suggested that many of these names are 'American'.

Some of them indeed are American in style. But they are very, very dated.

These days, Americans are giving both boys and girls surnamey names.

I know girls named Bennett, Campbell, Cameron, Bellamy, Merrick, Merritt, Aniston, Arden, Callahan, Collins, Linden, Madigan, Havilland, Holliday, Hollis, Kennedy, Cassidy, Reese, Sheridan.

WhoppingBigBackside · 24/12/2021 14:57

If you both really like Braelynn use it. Nobody else likes it, but she's nobody else's baby

Use Claire as a middle name so that she can use that if she wishes a less unpleasant name

Princessbelle7 · 24/12/2021 14:52

Me and my husband have now narrowed it down to Piper, Bailey, Alyssa, Braelynn (OH really wants to name dd this and I do too but there are others I like) Elliana, Ellie, Adelyn, and Madison. We may use Claire as a middle name.

OP posts:
Princessbelle7 · 24/12/2021 14:43

I like Clara but I prefer Claire.

GoodnightGrandma · 24/12/2021 14:37

I like Piper, but I don’t see it as an adult name.
I like Mabel at the moment.

shreddednips · 24/12/2021 14:34

I really like Macy and quite like Brooke! I'm neutral on most of the others. Afraid I'm really not a fan of Braelynn, Bailey and especially Peyton. Claire is very different from the others on your list and I sort of like it for its rarity value, sounds quite fresh now it hasn't been used in a while. Do you like Clara?

Happenchance · 24/12/2021 14:25

Claire - Dislike
Piper - Dislike

Braelynn - Hate
Ava - OK

American names are often seen negatively in the UK I think. But you know what you want, you should call your baby a name you love. Good luck

Luzina · 24/12/2021 10:56

Brooke - 1980s American
Claire - plain but nice
Piper - tAmerican
Adelyn - American
Riley - American
Peyton - American
Ellie - plain but nice
Elliana -,not sure how to pronounce but ok
Macey/Macy - Prefer Maisie
Bailey - American and a boys name imo
Braelynn - this is a horrible name
Ava - love this one
Amelia - love this one
Delilah - I like it but negative association (biblical)
Alyssa - ok but I prefer Alice/Alicia
Madison - American and 1980s

Princessbelle7 · 24/12/2021 10:50

It’s used for both but I guess it’s more common for boys in the UK. I think spelling it Emersyn makes it more feminine and more obvious that she’s a girl. I also prefer that spelling.

I’m in England but I seem to like a lot of American names. I don’t really like many British ones, and I love these names on the list.

Isn't Emerson a boys name? It certainly sounds like one Confused

mathanxiety · 24/12/2021 06:27

I only like Claire, Delilah, and Ava.

The rest are really 'not my taste' as the saying goes. Braelynn is especially godawful.

Piper and Delilah are my favourites the others aren’t my cup of tea. Are you in the US? The names seem quite American, many aren’t used often here esp for girls.
KloppsTeeth · 24/12/2021 02:47

Claire.

I know a few Jewish families who have Elliana as girls names. I like it, but prefer Claire.

LeftieLucy · 24/12/2021 02:19

I only like Amelia from your list

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/12/2021 02:12

Brooke. Love
Claire. My name well (Clare) I hate it, but I think I'd quite like it if it wasn't, plus. It'd certainly be very refreshing now.
Piper. Adore
Adelyn Its awful
Riley. Awful
Peyton. It's okay
Ellie. Adore
Elliana Too fussy. Why complicate a lovely sweet name like Ellie.
Macey. It's okay
Bailey. Don't like
Braelynn . Awful
Ava. Nice name but I don't like it personally
Amelia. Nice name
Delilah. Love
Alyssa. Adore
Madison. Despise

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/12/2021 01:19

Delilah and Claire are nice and not overused

Amelia and Ava are lovely but very popular. Ellie is a nn and Elliana a bit daft - Eleanor?

Brooke is quite nice. Piper ie Ok

Adelyn is odd but Adela, Adelaide, Adeline are all really lovely.

These are terrible:
Riley
Peyton
Macey/Macy
Bailey
Braelynn
Alyssa
Madison

EugeniaGrace · 23/12/2021 20:06

I prefer these spellings if we can pick middle names too.

Adeline Delilah
Eliana Brooke

Aquariusmumma · 23/12/2021 20:00

Brooke - sweet, like nature names
Claire - good classic name
Piper - ok but maybe not that great as an adult?
Adelyn - love this, and also Adeline
Riley - only know boys with this name
Peyton - not keen, only person I know who used it had the most awful accent when they pronounced itConfused
Ellie - ok but nicer as a nickname I think
Elliana - like this, could be shortened to Ellie
Macey/Macy - quite sweet, prefer it spelt without the e
Bailey - not a massive fan
Braelynn - love this, quite unusual too
Ava - bit too popular for me
Amelia - again another classic option
Delilah - I like this but wouldn't use for my own, not totally sure why, but has negative connotations for some people
Alyssa - sweet, like this one
Madison - like this too, could be Maddie for short

All the best with the birth and everything, exciting timesSmile

Whatwouldnanado · 23/12/2021 19:55

Claire is definitely due for a revival.
Ava is beautiful.
Avoid anything where the spelling has to be constantly explained/corrected. Life is tough enough.
