FASDE1517 · 23/12/2021 16:06

I know a few Ever-lin and a few Eev-lines

Princessbelle7 · 23/12/2021 16:05

I always say Ever-lin, but some people pronounce it Eev-lin. There are multiple pronunciations for this name, but I really prefer ever-lin x

Joolsin · 23/12/2021 16:05

Evv-lyn for a girl, Eev-lyn for a boy

PoleFairy · 23/12/2021 16:02

I alsways said Ever-lyn (like when I read it in a book growing up etc.) but I know an Eev-lyn and and Ev-lyn now

HeronLanyon · 23/12/2021 15:46

Eve - lynne

Ev - lynne

Due to knowing one of each and after getting it wrong a few times.

Lucia574 · 23/12/2021 15:44

Ev-lin for a girl; Eve-lin for a boy.

Ruthietuthie · 23/12/2021 15:38

It depends if they are male or female, as @sadpapercourtesan said.
Male - Eve-lyn
Female - Eva-lyn

whywouldntyou · 23/12/2021 15:37

My aunt was Ev Lyn

arimae9 · 23/12/2021 15:31

Ever-lin.

BathTangle · 23/12/2021 15:27

I am one, named after my gran, we are both Eev-Lyn.

TheSpiral · 23/12/2021 15:23

Ever-Lyn and Ev-a-lyn sound the same in my accent (I have been saying the over and over again to try to work out the difference!) and that is how I pronounce the name initially. Although obviously if someone said "it's Eve-lyn" I would pronounce it that way.

Haus1234 · 23/12/2021 15:21

@OrangeAndYellowAndBlue

Eev-lyn would be my default.

Evelyn Waugh and his wife, Evelyn, were both Eev-lyn.

I didn’t know his wife was also Evelyn, how interesting!
Splashinginpuddles15 · 23/12/2021 15:20

I teach in a girls school and teach girls who pronounce it each of these 3 ways so choose the one you prefer .

ApolloandDaphne · 23/12/2021 15:15

Ev-Lin in my part of Scotland too.

Polecat03 · 23/12/2021 15:13

Ev-lin here in North East Scotland.
Never heard anyone say EVE-lin, anywhere.

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2021 15:09

Ev-lin seems to be the default pronunciation in Ireland.

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 23/12/2021 15:06

Eev-lyn would be my default.

Evelyn Waugh and his wife, Evelyn, were both Eev-lyn.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 23/12/2021 15:06

My gran was Ev-Lyn.
I prefer Eve-Lyn though. It was on my list of names for my daughter but I knew it would cause issues if I pronounced it differently from my gran's name.

RainbowBabyForChristmasPlease · 23/12/2021 15:05

Eve-lin

Cbeebiesrehab · 23/12/2021 15:05

Ever/Ev-uh-Lin

WithRosesAroundTheDoor · 23/12/2021 15:04

Ever-lin for a girl.
Eve-lin is the masculine version.
I think.

jpbee · 23/12/2021 15:03

Ever-lyn

WarmthAndDepth · 23/12/2021 15:02

Eev-lyn.
Those suggesting Ever-lyn/lin; is that as in Ev-uh-lyn, not pronouncing the 'r' (the 'r' in 'ever' is definitely pronounced in regional dialect in this part of the country)?

LavenderRosemary · 23/12/2021 15:02

Ever-lyn

sadpapercourtesan · 23/12/2021 14:57

Ever-lynn for a girl, Eev-lynn for a boy
