Do you know many?
What's your opinion on this name.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ginandplatonic · 23/12/2021 09:11

I know lots, all teenagers, but that just reflects the ages of my kids and therefore their peers. I love it.

WheelieBinPrincess · 23/12/2021 09:05

Well because there’s so many names where it doesn’t matter at all where the emphasis lies- think of all the nicknames derived from Elizabeth for example. So to not imagine Seb as a nickname for Sebastian is a little strange.

KirstenBlest · 23/12/2021 08:52

@WheelieBinPrincess, why is a poser's opinion bonkers? She's entitled to it.

Depending on your accent you might not say Seb when you say Sebastian - I'd sort of say it as Suh Basdyun

You wouldn't shorten Amanda to Ammy, you'd say Manda or Mandy

WheelieBinPrincess · 23/12/2021 02:27

@EishetChayil

Seb never makes sense to me as a nickname for Sebastian, as the stress falls on the BASS syllable.
That’s bonkers.
HerRoyalNotness · 22/12/2021 23:51

I have one. Live in the US now, was in Fr-Canada when we named him. We’ve met one younger one recently, and a couple of adults.

Tatum1234 · 22/12/2021 23:30

I like it. It really surprised me that there’s 3 in my son’s class (he’s 9) as I didn’t realise it was so popular!

Why does that matter?

Lovely name.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/12/2021 23:06

Love it

FreeBritnee · 22/12/2021 23:05

Extremely popular where I am.

Olga03 · 22/12/2021 23:03

Beautiful name - would habe put it on my boys list, but always makes me think of a friend of mine - lovely soul. He doesn't have a NN and everyone calls him by his full name :)

Blubells · 22/12/2021 21:31

I find it just a little too long and frilly.

I think there are much nicer 2 syllable names that won't necessarily be shortened

I don't like Seb or Basty.

WheelieBinPrincess · 22/12/2021 18:08

Ha, even at three months old the name is very much not frilly on my son Grin

itscoldinhere · 22/12/2021 17:45

Sebastian doesn't necessarily get shortened. I know a Sebastian who is called that and not Seb. Adult.

Mind you, I also know a Thomas and Benjamin - also not shortened. I think school mates might well give any nickname they fancy but overall I do think it's possible to get most to call you the name you want.

I like Sebastian. Sounds like a strong name. Someone called it a bit frilly. The Sebastian I know is a tank of a man ha ha. Floppy hair lol.

Treesuphooray · 22/12/2021 17:31

I’m glad people generally like it. I’m 28 weed at the moment and my 3 year old decided a while ago that her brother will be called Sebby.

FawnFrenchieMum · 22/12/2021 17:18

My 3 old DGS is the only one I know. He gets called Seb or Sebby a lot.

DramaAlpaca · 22/12/2021 17:17

Not for me. Too long. A bit of a frilly name.

SmallElephant · 22/12/2021 17:16

I love it btw!

SmallElephant · 22/12/2021 17:16

I know one, he's 12.

Adventing · 22/12/2021 17:15
