Completely stuck on girl names

40 replies

Bedknobsnbroomstix · 15/12/2021 23:33

We are totally stuck on girl names. I seem like to like some for a period of time and then say them aloud and go off them when said with our surname; a two syllable beginning with a hard C.

We really want something less popular but quite classy sounding and known. Don't want a lifetime or spelling corrections etc. We don't want anything too long and ideally would rather it can't be shortened. Help??? :(

I love alliterative names especially CC!

@Sexnotgender

I’ve got a Joy. Had so many positive reactions to it. Love it ❤️ Everyone needs more Joy in their lives right now.
Oh yes, that's lovely too! If you like Nina, Joy flows so beautifully as a middle name.

@Rockmehardplace

Nina
Nina is really, really classy IMO and suits every stage of life- cute on a baby/small child, elegant for a woman. I also like Mara.

I know it's already been mentioned but Erin is my all-time favourite girl's name.

It's strong and feminine, plus easy to say and spell.

If we had ended up having a girl, Opal and Seren were also on our list. Not sure if they're you're style but thought I'd throw them out there anyway Smile

Good luck with naming your baby. It's such an exciting time x

I could have written this thread myself. I’m finding it near impossible to find a girl name I like. Olivia and Grace are top contenders at the moment but although I don’t mind a popular name it does feel very unimaginative and a bit dull. I liked Lilah for a while but my husband isn’t keen. In short, I’m with you… girls names are tricky!

@Awwlookatmybabyspider that's interesting to know. I too have a one syllable name and love that's it doesn't get shortened, I don't think anyone's ever lengthened it either, aside from my little sis. I think that's what draws me to shorter names because I notice myself how much I shorten other names and they lose their quality a lot of the time.

Nina is a big hit with us, thank you!

I also really like Cora and Lara. Still possibility of "Ni", "Cor", "Lar"...(This is how lazy the name habits are in our area!) but I think they are beautiful!

Clara is lovely too but not sure about the alliteration that we would have with Cora and Clara and our surname?

Anna perfectly fits the bill but we can't use it unfortunately.

I live in Australia and I’m telling you now they can and will shorten anything (Sarah- Sas) and lengthen anything (Lynn - Lynno) etc.
