How old is Jessica?

Someone said that they think Jessica is an old lady name but to me it is quite timeless/maybe more popular with people aged 20-40. If you saw the name Jessica written down how old would you expect her to be. Would you be surprised if a baby was called Jessica now/do you know any children called it?

Early 30s

I don’t think I know any school age Jessica’s

Ilovewillow · 14/12/2021 16:43

I know a Jessica (Jess) who is 13 - I think it's lovely

LyraVega · 14/12/2021 16:43

I went to school with loads of Jessica's so I'd say late 20s to early 30s is what springs to my mind, but i also know of a few little jess / jessicas who are about 5 and under.

I also know of two Jessa's who must both be 2 or 3 years old by now.

I work with children from tiny baby age up to 11 years and there are Jessica’s dotted all the way through, it’s very popular still

Oneforthemoneytwo · 14/12/2021 16:42

Loads of them in their teens

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/12/2021 16:41

Any age. It's a shakespearean name

notacooldad · 14/12/2021 16:40

I have an aunty Jessica ( in her 70's)
My son's gf is a Jessica (19)
I have had 4 Jessica's on my case load in the last few years ( age 8-14l)
To say what age would I think if I saw it written down would depend on what I was reading.

BertieBotts · 14/12/2021 16:39

15-30.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 14/12/2021 16:38

Mine is 13

Sprig1 · 14/12/2021 16:37

Ita lovely name. Classic and suits all ages.

emmathedilemma · 14/12/2021 16:33

I know ones ranging from about 10 to early 40's. Can't think of any in their teens but definitely some in their 20's.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 14/12/2021 16:30

My peers’ age - around forties now. But I also know a mid teen whose name is Jessica. It’s a fairly classic name IMO.

Cotswoldmama · 14/12/2021 16:27

I know one that's 37 and one that's 23

CrispAndFrosty · 14/12/2021 15:49

@Doubleraspberry

She is about 40 now. Not sure whether she is still size 10, with blonde hair and a gold lavaliere (whatever that is) around her neck. But I bet she still lives near the beach.
I think that one's a lot older than 40 by now! Grin
MyAnacondaMight · 14/12/2021 15:47

It was popular in the UK in the 90s and 00s, so she’s probably aged 12-32, with a few older and younger.

resm · 14/12/2021 15:47

I’ve come across two who would be early primary school age now. I think it really suits a child and the nickname Jess/Jessie is cute. Never met any adult Jessicas.

Jessica is not timeless to me. I definitely think late 80’s/90’s babies, so she is 25-35. Of course it’s classic enough that is it’s always is moderate use, I just associate it more heavily with that time period. Like Hannah, Abigail, Emily…

Joystir59 · 14/12/2021 15:04

About 40

CrispAndFrosty · 14/12/2021 14:58

I know of a 2 yr old Jessica by the way. I was very mildly surprised that it was the child's name rather than the mum's name (it was in a toddler group context so when Jessica was mentioned it wasn't immediately clear whether a child or adult was being referred to), but only because so many of the children's names I hear are so strongly linked to the under 5s. It's refreshing to hear something that isn't.

CrispAndFrosty · 14/12/2021 14:54

It's not at all popular with old ladies, so I can only imagine the person who said that was thinking of Murder She Wrote.

You're right that Jessica is unlikely to be over 40. I'd imagine a young woman in her 20s, but it's still quite popular for babies.

Jessie is an older name, as it is the traditional Scottish nickname for Jean, and has been used independently. A lot of people will have a Jessie way back on their family tree, but almost nobody will have a Jessica.

JuniorMint · 14/12/2021 14:53

Jessica Ennis Hill

Jesy Nelson formerly of Little Mix is a Jessica

Hoppinggreen · 14/12/2021 14:51

I know one who is 60, 1 who is 20, once who is 16 and one who is 11

Stokey · 14/12/2021 14:51

Dd1 has 2 Jessica's in her class, she's 12. I also know one who's about 7, one in her 30s and a few my age, mid-40s. So I would say timeless.
