How old is Jessica?

Someone said that they think Jessica is an old lady name but to me it is quite timeless/maybe more popular with people aged 20-40. If you saw the name Jessica written down how old would you expect her to be. Would you be surprised if a baby was called Jessica now/do you know any children called it?
@CrispAndFrosty yes, a good few were called Jessica. Not all, some were Jean, but from recall, there were more Jessica's than Jean's. As a nurse, I regularly accessed their medical records and so their official names were used.
That's interesting, I wouldn't have expected that! Sorry I cross posted with you upthread, too. I wonder whether (assuming location by your username) Jessica took off earlier in Scotland because it works with Jessie? Or perhaps it did come into general use a little earlier than I thought. There was Jessica Mitford b. 1917, but she was from an aristocratic family with a sister called Unity, so I assumed she was a bit of an outlier.

It's a bit like Jennifer, which wasn't widely used before the 20th century, but immediately took off because of the older nickname Jenny (previously from Jane).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/12/2021 13:58

She could be any age between newborn and 40.

Crabwoman · 15/12/2021 09:57

About 40, I know a few

SummerLew · 15/12/2021 09:33

The oldest one I know is my age (46), although there is the fictional Ms Fletcher.
Mostly they are under 30, but it is still regularly used today. Jess is a nice nickname.

SirChenjins · 15/12/2021 08:09

The two I know are 14 and 21. I believe Ms Rabbit is 40.

peaceinourtime · 15/12/2021 08:03

An age you want her to be. Its common amongst the ages.

ShippingNews · 15/12/2021 03:50

My Jessica ( niece) is 17. It's a classic name.

KloppsTeeth · 15/12/2021 02:29

I know lots of Jessicas: 45, 43, 30, 24, 19, 13, 7, 3 and 18 months. Sometimes they shorten it to Jess. Never heard any of them called Jessie.

PlanetNormal · 14/12/2021 20:52

I know a 9 year old Jessica. She was born just after the London Olympics.

Remember those days, when the world looked up to 🇬🇧 in admiration?…

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 14/12/2021 20:49

@Doubleraspberry

She is about 40 now. Not sure whether she is still size 10, with blonde hair and a gold lavaliere (whatever that is) around her neck. But I bet she still lives near the beach.
Ha that lavaliere necklace! I never know what it meant! Yes, she's still hot, mid-thirties and working her way through the more attractive gentlemen of wherever she happens to be living. Probably off to Elizabeth's for Christmas dinner with her beautiful, professional husband and immaculate children.

Also, I taught an 8 year old Jessica recently and have a friend whose daughter, Jessica, is in her twenties. Nice name.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/12/2021 20:46

My 17yo Jessica was one of 6 in her primary school year (4 in her class).

I teach 10 year old Jessicas.

And my friend has a 2 year old with that name.

Timeless and classic.

Mackmama · 14/12/2021 20:41

I think it’s timeless but also beautiful x

Shipwrecked2019 · 14/12/2021 20:39

I'm a 30 y/o Jessica, my 10 y/o DD has friends called Jessica and I know of baby Jessica's....A name you can't get away from!

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 14/12/2021 20:03

@CrispAndFrosty yes, a good few were called Jessica. Not all, some were Jean, but from recall, there were more Jessica's than Jean's. As a nurse, I regularly accessed their medical records and so their official names were used.

HideousKinky · 14/12/2021 20:01

My youngest daughter is called Jessica and she is 26

PanicBuyingSprouts · 14/12/2021 19:54

Only know a couple, both in their mid-twenties.

BobGalaxy · 14/12/2021 19:37

I know a 2 year old Jessica. It really suits her.

Zarene · 14/12/2021 19:30

This is really interesting - I assumed it was timeless, but I've just looked it up on the ONS tracker and it came out of nowhere in 1980 and has been near the top ever since.

Angel2702 · 14/12/2021 19:16

I know Jessica’s of all ages. There are 3 in my daughter’s class. Jessica and Sophie seem to be the most popular names in her year.

deathofastrawberry · 14/12/2021 19:04

There were a LOT of Jessica's in my year at primary and secondary school and I'm late 20s

freelions · 14/12/2021 19:00

I would expect someone under 35

I know several Jessicas in their 20s and 30s but also know of a few under 10

Roselilly36 · 14/12/2021 18:58

Only ever known one Jess, never called herself Jessica. Always makes me think of Frank Spencer and baby Jessica.

GemmaRuby · 14/12/2021 18:58

30s, but I really like it

KittekatMP · 14/12/2021 18:56

I know a 19yo Jess and also have a cat called Jess!

I wanted Jessica as a girls name but DH said it was too old fashioned (20yrs ago). I disagree and think it’s timeless.

mugglenutmeg · 14/12/2021 18:46

Mine is 17, she loves her name.
