I think we've decided on this. The sound is lovely, it's Welsh, not popular.
What haven't we thought of?

I like it, I worked with a Nerys in the early 2000's she was early 20's and the most lovely girl and from that time I've always loved the name, go for it

Kira Nerys is pronounced differently to Nerys. Ner-eese v Ner-iss. Still a lovely name either pronunciation.

HelloDulling · 10/12/2021 23:32

Cute! I know two small ones (I work at a girls school in Wales) and think it’s a lovely name. Much better than the ubiquitous Seren/Carys/Cerys.

Skeumorph · 10/12/2021 23:28

It’s very drab and depressing sorry!

TuftyMarmoset · 10/12/2021 23:27

It’s a bit grannyish. Like Gladys.

Cerys is nice though.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 10/12/2021 23:24

I much prefer Cerys

Skeumorph · 10/12/2021 23:21

Not a fan sorry ☹️

WeasilyPleased · 10/12/2021 23:03

We're going for it! Thanks 😊

I like Nerys. I know a few older ones it's s lovely name

I love it. Kira Nerys was a fantastic character in Star Trek - a strong woman who stood up for her values and to protect others, as well as being compassionate and caring. I know that's probably not who's inspired your choice, but I think she's a great namesake to have.

A580Hojas · 10/12/2021 18:34

Absolutely beautiful name!

MajorCarolDanvers · 10/12/2021 18:32

Lovely

SantasGoodLittleGirl · 10/12/2021 18:32

Hughes. Nerys Hughes played a nurse in something. I think. As well as being a Liver Bird.

A bit 'Granny' and not in a nice way.

CalonGaled · 10/12/2021 15:15

Nice. A bit like Cerys but without the C before an e issue

emmathedilemma · 10/12/2021 14:55

I like it and i've only ever met one.

Igotstoknow · 10/12/2021 11:02

@shreddednips

It's a lovely name! It does remind me of Nervous Nerys from Only Fools and Horses but that's probably just me 😁
My first thought was 'don't have a son called Rodney!', so it isn't just you!

It is a nice name though.

GotToGoBye · 10/12/2021 10:57

I like it

KirstenBlest · 10/12/2021 10:48

Very pretty name.

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 10/12/2021 07:56

Lovely! I know a baby Nerys (in England). I hadn't heard it before, but it's a nice sound.

Me too!

I'm not a fan, but then mid century names like Vera and Alma are on the up, and I'd put Nerys in the same category.
